Hello Patrick, This is very possible. Only one sound device will be available at any one time to a program but if you operate "digital HF" on your FT857 using SCU-17#1 while you operate "VHF APRS"

Just a thought to consider, have you tried running the USB devices with a powered USB hub? It might be possible you are running out power with your Pi power supply with the number of devices plugged
