Starting my els for a 7x12 #RELS #LATHES
Started my els project - 3D printed mounts for encoder and stepper - also printed gears one for the encoder and one for the stepper. just using a nano to test the stepper setup. In

I am using a CUI AMT103 <https://www.cuidevices.com/product/motion/rotary-encoders/incremental/modular/amt10-series> encoder. Sorry now that I actually look at the spec sheet I see the resolution is

Re: 74LS86 #RELS
Interesting, what do you need to do to change the output count? It is doubled So that typically an 1800 pulse encoder can be read as 3600 Possibly Richard

Re: 74LS86 #RELS
Thanks, my encoder is variable. I can do 30 - 3000 ppr. With the 74LS86 is the output variable or just doubled? Why was this needed for RELS? I wonder if the pulse would be cleaner/sharper. Ralph

Re: 74LS86 #RELS
When a quadrature encoder is used for speed measurement this doubles the resolution.? A 200cpr encoder can be used at 400 counts per revolution.

For RELS what exactly did/does the 74LS86 Quad 2-Input Exclusive OR Gate do? Ralph -- Clausing 8520, Craftsman 12x36 Lathe, 4x12 mini lathe, 14" Delta drill press, 40 watt laser, Consew brushless DC

Thanks John, yes it has taken me a while, actually I probably started in John D's yahoo group. Then seeing your post in the Mini Lathe groups got me looking at different methods. It probably has taken

Ralph. Congratulations on starting a new forum and hope you will still continue posting here. I have been wondering over the past 6 months if you will ever find the "exact" ELS system you are yearning

My two cents? The original Yahoo E-Leadscrew group was formed to discuss Electronic Lead Screws that were not CNC because groups like CAD-CAM-EDM-DRO were not interested in the discussion and in fact

Thanks Gene, that is a great link. I am not a Russian speaker and Google translate only goes so far, so I could certainly install the Russian ELS I cannot understand the instructions on how to use it.
