Re: #3D

Lol, reminds me of my weekend project...was replacing the faucet in the kitchen for a new one, and the stupid plastic mounting nut on the one that could only be reached with my off hand over the drain pipe and around the garbage disposal was too hard for me to turn. So I spent ten minutes in the shop with a bit of schedule 40 abs and made myself a wrench. (hey it IS too digital! I used??my very own digits to make it! :-)?

This maybe of interest to the CNC members. I have 2 of these controllers, DDCSV2.1 installing 1 on my mill and the other on the lathe.(new). Naturally steppers and drivers are needed for the machines. For the price and availability I strongly recommend these? CNC controllers. Easy to install , 4 axis , optional MPG ( manual pulse generator) .Also able to edit files etc with a remote wifi standard keyboard. But paramount in my opinion is the technical support coming out of China and is exceptional. There chief engineer is Yt Liu, and yes he is an ex rocket scientist. 2 usual ways to contact the company engineers with problems and questions, either Facebook and also the have there own forum site (currently being revamped). I ask a question today, get a reply within 24 hours. If you need facebook invites, just contact me. I have been using the mill CNC 3 axis for several months, with all the common CNC commands you would expect from Fanuc/Haas/fadal etc, and only this week I used the A axis (indexing) cutting a few gears.on what was my Step indexer via a Arduino system. but now it?s CNC and all hands off. i have no financial interest or gains form DDCNC just letting you know what is out there for hobbyists. Still sorting out the post processor for the lathe off my Mastercam to talk to the lathe,I am almost there.I will keep the group informed. See attached photos. Hope of interest. -- John |

My monthly review.
Changed the cover photo. please view. Hope of interest to our members with a 3D printing machine.showing 2 x? ER 40 collets, 23 mm square and 30 mm dia, but I think just about taking it to the limit of frutillity. LOL. A member in Australia asked if it could be done, don?t know, but will give it a go, these will be posted out next week. Lets see what his reply will be in a few weeks.ideal for woodworking lathes. I slipped a 30 mm dia bar into the collet ( see brown stains) held it in a vee block,? TIR of bores/flats to the outside well within 0.2 mm It?s possible to buy oversize and special square/hex steel collets, but the prices are very high. In July, I printed a ER 32 22 mm dia, then posted to Aussie land, Barry our member liked it, lets see if I can be lucky twice. He will be the judge, as I do not own any ER 40 holders. My local restaurant owner has his olive oil delivered in 25 L drums with a screw on sealed cap of about 65 mm dia.with? 8 x gripping flats/diamonds. The restaurant cooks (ladies) could never open the new drums, and always asked Salva the owner to oblige, he did so, but used a stillson. and was always being called back to the kitchens at awkward times of the day to do this task. So he asked me if I could make a wrench/spanner, and that would be readily available hanging off a hook in the storeroom.for the cooks to use. OK I said, and my first thoughts was a piece of ally plate and profile? the whole thing including the internal diameter and notches. All doable, but time to make even with CNC milling would be cost prohibitive. Eureka, why not 3D print a spanner/wrench. So I set to with CAD and produced a STL file, end of the day, happy owner, happy cooks, happy me with free lunch time meals for a while. Hope of interest. Keep the post coming, it seems the ELS #RELS is gaining momentum, also the Mill power feed and the Step indexer. All good digital new age stuff. Thanks -- John |

Just received one of these soldering irons. I like it, tinning wires for example, normally clamp the wire in a vice, then solder in one hand, iron in the other, with this, just hold wire in the one hand and touch on the end of the iron and, pull the trigger. Excellent if you have a wire to be soldered onto a PC board. Possibly not for the experts, but does what I need. -- John |

Thanks Charlie, my 3D printer has been sitting in a box after breaking down 5 years ago. I am getting more reasons to put it back together. On Sun, Oct 6, 2019 at 8:52 AM John Lindo <bechetboat@...> wrote:

Ah understand, I thought you had printed the boxes a long time ago. It must of been 6 months ago or I am losing it. Cheers John On Sun, 6 Oct 2019, 13:37 CLevinski <clevinski@... wrote: Hi, John, --

Re: Nema Termination on motors

Hi, John,
I had planned to 3D print them, but was having a protracted issue with my printer.? Rather than hold up my RELS project, I bought these.? I then drilled some appropriate holes so the mounting epoxy had somewhere to go, bored the hole for the 16 mm aircraft connector, and used JB Weld (your suggestion, if I recall) to adhere the boxes to the motors. -- Regards, Charlie New Jersey, USA |
Re: Nema Termination on motors
#RELS
Charlie I thought you 3D printed them as we discussed from my CAD files I sent you. My mis misunderstanding, sorry. But the end result the same, if you have a 3D printer, why purchase generic boxes. ? as you will need to drill out for glue/bond holes and Q/R plug. a 3D print, just a breeze. Sorry Ralph away in Spain at the moment so no pictures. However it is just a box (which you could print) with the chinese aircraft connector -flying socket and male panel mount connector from AliExpress. Richard On 4 October 2019 7:55:22 pm "Ralph Hulslander" <rhulslander@...> wrote:

Richard, do you have some pictures? I'd love to cut the connectors off everything I own and standardize. I have no idea where to find matching male or female connector to match ones that I have, all of which are different. John,
I converted the #ELS hashtags to #RELS.? But I would like to give credit where it is due; does anyone know the name of the Russian engineer who first developed the RELS software?? I would like to add it to the hashtag definitions. -- Regards, Charlie New Jersey, USA |
Re: ELS Completed

I hate acronyms!! Actually I hate people using acronyms without giving any thought to if people will recognize them, acronyms should be defined on first usage. I like how Charlie has defined #hashtags for this forum. I would prefer #RELS in deferment to John Danmayer original usage. On Wed, Oct 2, 2019, 7:00 AM John Lindo <bechetboat@...> wrote:

Re: ELS Completed
#RELS
Reference our ELS post currently in the "digitalhobbyist" forum. It should be noted that this early system was the work of a Russian engineer, and has no common bond with other manufacturers of ELS systems, not that I am aware of. I may consider changing the hash tag #ELS to #RELS (Russian ELS) . I will discuss this with my moderators. Hats off to the hammer and sycal. Clever guy. Well done and of course Envy envy. I must add, those without this ELS system, are well what?can I say, without. but as we say, from a great detective TV program Inspector Morse, he had a sergeant Lewis working for him, and he did all the investigations? and tracked down the villains, while Insp Morse drinks his beer in pubs, and relaxes with the music of Mozart, and is regularly known to say to Lewis ,? well you have all the clues so " GOWIL" (get on with it Lewis) and solve it, I am busy LOL.Is this delegation ?? So forum members, if you like ELS, GOWIL. I just love acronyms? Thanks John (owner). On Tue, 1 Oct 2019 at 23:36, CLevinski <clevinski@...> wrote: Les, --

Re: ELS Completed

Les,
There are generally a lot of different possible solutions to the same "challenge".? (When I was working, my boss would always ask me about the "challenge".? I finally figured out that if you weren't the one actually doing it, it was a "challenge".? If you were the one doing the work, it was a "problem"!)? It looks like we both have perfectly workable solutions. -- Regards, Charlie New Jersey, USA |
