Hi Ray ? Ok I agree with you on all of this, just one correction, it isn’t the sd card which is activated but the vr stream itself, I cannot play the audible books on another stream if they have been activated on my other stream. ? ?

Re: recording from the PC to the stream
hi Paul
I will probably regret asking this question, but why do you want to record from your computer? If the information is on the computer, could you not just copy it to a card? Or are you recording a live stream? If it is a live stream, you could record it on your computer using software like Virtual Recorder.
I have never managed to get good results using line-in on the Stream.
I hope other people have.

recording from the PC to the stream
Hi all, ? I have tonight ,attempted to record some attached audio directly to my Stream but eh audio quality is very distorted. ? I was using a jack to a jack lead ,one end was plugged into the computer and the other plugged intorted line-in on the Stream. ? Have tried other ways, i.e. plugging the jack plug directly into the headphone socket but this just gets complete silence. ? So ,could someone someone please advise how I can can get a decent recording via the above methods. ? Thanks ? Paul.

Re: More info and manual for Milestone 312 ACE was - Re: [vrstreamuk] Milestone 312 Ace vs VR Trek
Hi Ray ? A few things, I copied the radio Sheffield url to the m3u file like you suggested, put it on the milestone, haven’t brought it up yet but am still familiarising myself with the milestone. The audio playback is pretty good, I have it linked to speakers also, the bluetooth is pretty stable. The wifi seems good too. I haven’t played with the wifi too much as I have been sleeping a lot lately. ? ? As for the wifi and internet, they are not mentioned in the user manual, Steve Nutt sent me a supplement file which covers the more advanced info such as wifi etc but the file he sent me was in German which made it more difficult to work out but the basics are the same. ? It is going to take me a while to get used to the milestone as it is completely different to anything else I have used, I will try putting the file I made on the evo 10, see how that works, it is easier to find files you add on the evo. ? I have come away from the stream because they are not being up-dated. ? Yes will keep info coming as I find it out. ?? ? ?

Re: Milestone 312 Ace vs VR Trek
Hi Ray
Having had a good play with my milestone, haven't tried it with books yet but I have set up all the radio stations on there, it finds them all and you just have to save them to favourites, haven't really had a lot of time to listen to it yet as I have been busy helping mum sort things out aft my dad's death.
When it comes to music, If I have all my music in folders in the music folder, i.e. a b c etc, it won't play all the files in all the folders in random, only one folder at a time. I have to put all my files in one folder.
I think it is early days yet, for me I think the milestone would still be my choice over the treck because I don't need satnav. If they are going to add more and more features such as podcasts and other things then it is just a matter of waiting. The device has only just been releaced and like the stream when it first came out, they gradually added new features. It would be hard to provide a feature rich device very quickly I think unless it is a smart phone or something.
Regards
Adrien

Player and radio Radio and playing audio files and books are its prime features although it will do more with added colour identifier modules and one or two other things which I think are paid-for extras. So here's what I have heard so far and some detailed questions to folow. So far I have heard via Access-UK list of its more flexible file system without the need to place books and other audio files in specific places, although the VR Trek's insistance on doing this has never been a chaw for me. Its smallness is a selling point being, we are told, little bigger than a credit card if a little thicker. I will say that being able "to put it in a shirt pocket" has never held great apeal for me; no doubt that's just a personal thing. I do wish though that this latest Milestone had acquired a Podcast player but alas! it will be some time before that appears. It is nice to have more than skeletel information on this Bones Player from Germany. Now, I should no doubt try writing to Milestone on the Podcast player suggestion but more important to me at the moment is, Will this Milestone handle BBC High Quality internet streams? I am hoping that Adrian who's on this list can try these out - which wil work only within the UK. I wonder if these rather long and convoluted URLs are actually from a third party site, but I know there is at least one person here who might answer this, and even know of a convenient place where (all) BBC high quality radio feeds are listed. I in fact got to the feeds above by looking at: I looked at the answer for accessing BBC Radio Sheffield and then modified that for the other two stations above. It could well be these feeds are used by Smart Speakers to access radio via BBC Sounds. They address the annoyance I have not being able to access BBC local radio on the VR Trek using the lowwer quality 128 kbs streams, denied to us until Sunday due to the Winter Olympics. Pretty The HQ streams will not get around accessing local sport due to rights issues. Sure the Trek will not handle the HQ feeds. Its looking like the Milestone may become the favoured internet radio and player for vI people in the UK. the dealer selling it here has been misleading in implying the trek does not do Blue Tooth (and) Wi-Fi, which we all know isn't true. so, any thoughts? Anyone hearing of a Trek replacement Ray. -- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG.

Re: Milestone 312 Ace vs VR Trek
Hi,?
I had a predecessor to the Milestone Ace 312 wifi when my Victor Stream second generation went into repair some years ago and loved its small size and the built in alarm clock features but was happy when I got my Stream back as I found I couldn't
speed up the built in TTS voice without it sounding choppy, it didn't support as many file formats and I found the lack of a keypad quite difficult at times.?
I have heard some people going for the Evo10 daisy player as a replacement or complimentary to the Stream, which I may be interested in.?
I have heard that Human ware are developing a new device, but it seems to be more geared towards GPS features rather than book reading.?
Please see video below from the Sight tech global conference YouTube channel:?
