D-rats (windows 10) and IC-705

hello,

I am re-starting with d-rats and especially starting with my IC-705.

Can someone explain to me how to connect the 705 to d-rats via the USB port under windows? (10).

in advance thank you

I know there are issues with GPS and that should be off, don't know if that's the issue or not, don't even know where to turn it off.
I've done a factory reset and loaded in with RT Systems the bare minimum. I've tried loading the channels in the main mem and DR, doesn't seem to matter.
For DRATS it is not a cable or port issue, something else somewhere.

Re: ID51a plus2 not sending chat messages out

latest status:? Yesterday, I was able to communicate between the ID51a Plus2 to my IC92ad using our dstar repeater.? Then I went back to using a simplex channel and the communication only went one way.? I shut everything down, the two laptops and the two radios.
I come back this morning and everything works perfect.? I cannot explain it.? It gets back to if one believes the settings are OK, either rebooting the laptop or restarting the DRATS program seems to fix things.? Obviously restarting DRATS only takes a few seconds.
The version of DRATS I'm using on both ends is 0.3.9. I'm not doing maps or email at this time. I understand that most of the new development has to do with mail or maps, therefore, should I stick with this version?

Re: ID51a plus2 not sending chat messages out

Just to make the water more muddy, I'm chatting on drats with a couple people over the local dstar repeater and it's WORKING.
I've also moved cables around, too many variables.

I should probably go back and see if simplex works, I belong in the nut house, better be careful with what I say

I have an ID51a Plus2 that belongs to a club member.

To program the ID51a Plus 2, I am using RT Systems ver 5.00.82 software using orange USB RTS-05 programming cable.
To keep the system simple for testing, I have two laptops and two radios, a 91ad which has no issues, hits our local dstar repeater, can communicate via drats to others in town.? I have a 5100 too as I can use as an option, it works fine.

When other people talk to me with voice on dstar, my IC92ad and ID5100 verbalize their call letters.? When I key up the 51, the other radios do not verbalize the call letters, don't know if this is a setting on the 51 somewhere.? Nor do I know if it's a real problem, just an observation.

What works:? voice on dstar, either simplex or duplex via a dstar repeater.? What doesn't work, the units on the receiving end don't verbalize the call letters.
When I click on ping all stations, the xmit light comes on, nothing comes back.? When xmitting, other radios display the 51's call letters and message in the radio display.

What doesn't work:? when a message is sent from the 51 (drats), the xmit light goes on but no other drats pick up the message.? When other drats stations send a text message, the 51 the message does not make it to drats.? The 51 is receiving, it's s meter pegs and there is a message on the radio screen from the calling station.

I've been through the 51's radio settings and don't see anything suspecious.??
I had a similiar problem a while back while setting up the 92ad.? I didn't know the baud rate absolutely had to be 38.5kb.? I was using 9600 and actually got some garbage on the screen, I said ah ha, that happens with the wrong baud rate.? I checked the specs and changed to 38.5 and it worked perfectly.

The problem is as if the comms between the radio and the laptop is the problem.? The laptop runs win7, using a usb to rs-232 converter, common control chip, proper drivers.? I've used different cables which worked elsewhere.

I wish I knew somebody else who had the same radio, or even had a RT Systems data file for this model I could try.

Re: D rats and e mail.

Yes, your winlink password must be added into D-Rats.??Go to Preferences and drop down to the Messages tab and you will see the location where you put in your password on a line that is about at the center of the page.??In order to do anything in Winlink now, your software has to log onto their system with your user name (callsign) and your password.??

Use "WL2K:¡± before the address you are sending the message to and //WL2K on the subject line before the Subject and it should go out.??Another issue you might run into is you must have kept the account active.??If you have not used Winlink in over a year, it is possible that your callsign was purged from the system.??This even happened to the National Hurricane Center WX4NHC a few years back.??And finally, Winlink is only working in D-rats by Telnet at this time, so messages will not go out if you do not have an Internet connection.??I am not sure if you can use the Send Via command to try to send it through another station that still has its Internet working.??If the Internet goes down, as it often does during the many hurricanes we get down here in Louisiana, we are always prepared to send the messages over the air via either Packet or HF using another radio system and our EOC¡¯s are so equipped.

Re: D rats and e mail.

Glen, thanks for the post. I think that is a part of the issue I am dealing with. I have Drats 0.3.9 currently. under the 64 bit version. with winlink now requiring a password. does that have to be entered into Drats for it to send the message through?

Virus-free.

We have successfully used DRATS software running on laptops connected to IC-91 and ID-51 (using the RTSystems orange cable) radio-to-radio.. It works and the software is excellent.

Now I want that software for my smart phone. Anyone working on that?
