Re: Has anyone come up with a way to send forms via winlink?
Mike
The only way I have been able to send NTS message via Winlink is to use
OUTPOST. There's a check that enables you to send NTS message as a private
message. There are NTS Target station on HF.

Re: RF D RATS Using ID-880H Mobile
Mike,
This is an excellent find. ?I will give you credit for that. Since I run Linux, it is good to know that they work on Linux.

Re: RF D RATS Using ID-880H Mobile
Hi David,
I'm happy you found it useful.
The cables are not shielded, but I've never had an RFI problem using them. A few ferrite snap-on beads might not be a bad idea as prevention, though.
I've

Mike,
Those cables are awesome. ?I need to get 10 or so... ?Have you had any RFI problems connecting them to the radio? ?They don't look like they are shielded.
Thanks

Re: RF D RATS Using ID-880H Mobile
If you're handy with a soldering iron, these FTDI USB to RS-232 "wire end" cables work well:

Re: RF D RATS Using ID-880H Mobile
John thanks for the suggestion. Having a built in converter is the way to
go. However I am a little confused. If this cable will work for programming
and data transfer... Will my OPC-478U do the same?

Re: RF D RATS Using ID-880H Mobile
John,
I am pretty sure that ICOM sells a USB version of the OPC-1529. ?It isn't cheap. I built my cable and just use a USB to serial adapter. ?The cable is easy to build and there are schematics

Use the RT Systems RTS-05 cable. It works as a programming or data cable.
