Re: Turn Off Transmit Message on Radio

Try setting warmup timeout to zero and warmup blocks to 16. This prefixes empty data blocks to the D-RATS data, thus giving the repeater/gateway time to open a path before the real data starts.

Also consider that the low speed data portion of the D-STAR stream does not have forward error correction as the voice segment does. If you are hearing R2D2, (it sounds like Cousin Itt to me) you may not have a good enough signal into the repeater for a reliable connection.

If your radio transmits when you press send, you have it set right.

If you are using a USB data cable, try going to the device manager and changing the port number to 4 or lower if possible. I have also heard that manually entering the com port number rather than selecting it from the list will cure the issue.

Hope this helps,

Pat, what would be the setting on a 31A? DV Data TX? Mine is set to
auto.

I am having problems using a repeater to send low-speed data. If w use
simplex (N5BGC and N4VIP) then we have 100% success with the Test
Connectivity. However, if we go to a repeater (W5SF), then 0%. N5BGC has
a signal analyzer and can see the signals going into the repeater but R2D2
coming out?

My IC-91AD lets me select one of five TX messages, or none/off. I guess
the 2820 is the same. The TX message uses the same data frames as low speed
data, so sending a TX message from your radio and transferring data from
the serial port uses more data frames per transmission and therefore takes
longer. With a transfer rate of 900 bps, every little bit helps.

On the File " Using_D-RATS_with_your_D-STAR_radio.pdf ", what is meant
by the "Turn off the TX message on your DSTAR radio as it uses bandwidth

data."

Do I select a line with nothing in it, or is there an on/off switch
somewhere in the IC-2820's Menu? I am trying to send email via the radio RF.
