Adding Min/Max to Audio Matrix, Particularly related to FB
11
Hi All, (Sorry for the long explanation!!) So we're starting to use the AVPro AC-MAX24-C audio matrix. It has a number of great features, but at the moment it is missing the old Min/Max volume adjustments for the Zone outputs. Think Pad8/BiPad8/Swamp, etc. As many of you know, this is a critical adjustment for making rooms of various sizes and 'live-ness" sound perceptibly similar when set to the same volume, say 35%. Very important for clients... I could use the Analog Scaler symbol; however, its parameters cannot be set at run-time. Thus, making adjustments while in the space to calibrate would be an exercise in DeBugger futility and require various compiles. SMW has an 'ANALOG MIN/MAX SCALER' symbol that works great on the front-end, allowing a run-time analog adjustment to the minimum and maximum values. However, when using this 'External' modification to the analog volume signal, It directly changes the values going into the Matrix. EX: Set M/M to 20%/80%, the analog levels coming out of the symbol into the matrix are '0' then ramping from 20% to 80%. This is great, but the level values coming out of the matrix are as is going in. '0', 20% to 80% - as expected. I need to have this output FB value be converted back to 0%-100% for display on the client UIs - Clients don't care about the scaling, they just need to see 0-100 which makes sense to them. Because we are dynamically adjusting the input, I need some way to dynamically scale the output FB to 0-100%. Any ideas would be welcome!! Note 1: I thought of doing all this in S+, but felt that there would be too much math/calculations when ramping. Note 2: I have already spoken multiple times to AVPro about adding this to the internal config of the Matrix, which is where it should be. The unit is Great, except for this one item. Please feel free to ping them about this also - Squeaky wheel and all...

TSR-310 time synch

Hi, if I get this correctly, the TSR-310 doesn?t do NTP. It gets out of synch pretty quickly. So how to ensure it stays in synch with the correct time without doing it manually via Toolbox? Thanks, Thorsten

Stopwatch

Greetings- I find myself with a little extra space during a touch panel redesign and thought it would be cool to have an elapsed time counter. I found multiple modules for countdown timers, but nothing to count passing time. Have I overlooked something obvious, or has anyone developed such a thing?

CH5 Template Projects
16
I am wondering whether the CH5 template project is being used a lot and works correctly. I have been banging my head against the wall trying to get something to work correctly(On multiple machines). I can create the template project and add a single button and load it to a panel. But I can't link the CSS file or JS file to it to change the look or add functionality to it. So basically it's a button on my touch panel that does nothing. All I really would like to do link a button to the JS script that sends an analog value to join 1, using the Publish Event and then build the rest in SIMPL. After that I can build from there. Is anyone else using the template project and having success? I can build things pretty well in HTML/CSS/JS and understand JSON structure, but I am quite perplexed with linking everything in this bloated template project. I have tried Construct and find it to be way worse than dealing with the quirky problems with VTPro. The TSW-1060 is online with the processor that is running a small program outputing on analog join 1 on the TSW. Just curiouse if its just me or if many others are experiencing the same thing. TIA Steve

Alexa

It's been a few years since I played around with using Alexa voice commands to control a Crestron system. I was underwhelmed back then. What is the current state of using Alexa both with a SIMPL system and with Crestron Home? Thanks for any experiences you can share.

New member looking for some guidance...
4
Hello all! First off, thanks for accepting me as a member here. I'm a relatively new Crestron user/owner. I acquired a LOT of MD8x8 switchers, DMPS-300-C, and a slew of RMC's/TX's a number of years ago. Haven't done anything serious with any of it until recently. I was using the DM8x8's just to switch my video manually in my home lab setup through the front panel. Ultimate goal is to setup my home lab to basically be a KVM switch for my computers and various electronic repair equipment to do video streaming of my repair jobs. I'm trying to start up a small vintage electronic repair business out of my home. I left the IT community a decade ago to help my parents in their final years, and now I have zero desire to go back to corporate IT, but I do have plenty of IT networking experience. I'm going back to my roots of electronics repair and vintage computer systems, with emphasis on industrial gear and the unusual. Fun back story; I first got introduced to Crestron gear in the early 2000's. I was assigned to do a network redesign for our CEO new home office, who had purchased Glen Campbell's old house (yes, the country singer). When I got there, they had a complete home office installation of Crestron gear (four full height racks) that I had to integrate into the rest of the network. So I had to get a little familiar with how it worked. I was pretty impressed with the level of integration and sophistication that presented to me. The whole ball of wax, lights, curtains, screens and speakers in the ceiling and floors that automatically opened closed, raised lowered, lights, climate, security cameras, etc. Seriously was impressive in 2000! That was the fun part, the not fun part was digging a trench between the house and the garage/operations center in 115F weather in Phoenix. None the less, when I had the opportunity to pick up a bunch of Crestron gear a few years ago, I jumped on it. Anyhow, I have a few questions that have been lingering and hoping maybe someone here can help point me in a direction to research some more. I joined because I'm coming to the exhaustion of my searches and due diligence before I ask for help. I'll follow up with specific questions I have separately. Oh, and speaking of that, I was reading the FAQ, and it referred to a document "CNX cook book" to read before posting questions. I couldn't find that document, is it possibly called something different, or renamed? I'd certainly like to read up on it if it's available. Thanks in advance! Cheers, -Dano

CP4 becomes unresponsive in ToolBox
19
Hi All, In recent months I've had CP4's become unresponsive using ToolBox, typically happening when using the System Info tool but console won't work either, like if loading a program, etc. Things will be fine, then something (like attempting a prog load) will trigger complete loss of comm's to the CP4 with Toolbox. Can't even get a Console prompt to show up. I even tried USB and the connection 'dings', then trying a console connection raises the UN/PW login, and once entered...Nothing!! The Web browser pages still work fine... Closing Toolbox/Killing ComServer the reopening does nothing. At this point all I can do is reboot the CP4... This has been happening with current TBx and two generations of CresDB/devDB... CP4 FW v2.8003.0056 Anyone else seeing this kind of thing?? TIA!

Extron DMP128
2
I downloaded the SMP128 module on this site. I was looking for a quick way to just control 3 faders without a lot of drama. So Much for that......Turns out, i cannot get the fader to send out the gain control commands. Perhaps I need to be connected to the DMP in order to get this to work? I am testing this in the lab first to see if there are any issues. Has anyone tried to use these modules before? Any helpful info is apricated.....

Control Netgear Switch

Hello and happy holidays to all. Is there a module to control NETGEAR type M4250 switches? I saw that there was the CEN-SWPOE-16 module in the crestron module library: has anyone already used it on this range of switches? Thanks. Manu

Sending http commands to a device
6
Hi I am using Aviosys 9258 IP Power Controllers on various sites and would now like to be able to control them from within a Crestron program. I have figured out/found the right http command to send eg http://user:[email protected]/Set.cmd?CMD=SetPower+P60=1+P61=1+P62=1+P63=1 will turn all four power outlets on and http://user:[email protected]/Set.cmd?CMD=SetPower+P60=0+P61=0+P62=0+P63=0 will turn all four power outlets off. So my question is how do I send these, or similar, commands to the Aviosys from a Crestron processor? I have done a search and notice that others are also using these units for remote power resetting so I'm hoping somone has already got this figured out. I have managed to get a connection to the unit (currently on port 80 ahtoguh this can be changed) from a program usign a TCP/IP Client symbol but get no response from the unit when I send commands out to it ! The commands work perfectly from all the browsers I've tried. Thanks Andy

DM-NVX-E20 Grayscale Issue
Hello everyone, I have a DM-NVX-E20 running the latest firmware (7.1.5259.84) that is producing a black and white / grayscale image on a video wall of LG displays. This is the only E20 that produces this image and is also the only one on the latest firmware as of right now. Another thing to point out is that this only happens on the video wall. I tested with different TV's in another room (Sony Bravia) and the image is fine, but on those LG displays it's black and white. I intend on contacting Crestron today but I wanted to see if anyone has seen this sort of thing or has any ideas/solutions? Thanks in advance! EDIT: I changed the HDCP settings from auto to 1.4, and my edid is set for DM Default 4k 60hz 2ch. Seems to be working fine now but knowing this system when I drive away it will happen again. -- Stephen H Programmer / Installation Technician

IV-SAM-VX2 selecting a camera to stream.
5
is there a way to make a IV-SAM-VX2 select a specific camera to stream? the "Camera_Select" only selects the camera to control, but doesn't change the camera that is to be streamed. "Manual_Switch_Camera" cycles through the cameras....I'm looking for way to select stream camera 1 or 2 or 3, etc...

NVX Network
2
#crestron
#nvx
Good morning Hive mind! I have an existing NVX installation running now on 4 mismatched Cisco switches, that is out of capacity. We are expanding the system and as such we have stood up a Netgear AV network with a M4350 10G at the core and M4250s at each IDF. The Core M4350 will be handling DHCP duties. Here's my question: Currently the CP3N is handling DHCP, which has its scope. My plan is to connect the Director to the new network so it has an IP address assigned from there, and then move all the existing endpoints over to the new network. Am I missing anything with this? My assumption is that the Director will still see the devices, and retain control. The only outlier I can think of is potentially changing the IP address of the director in the SIMPL program. If I am not clear at any of this let me know, does this sound right?
