Thanks for all the assistance. It working i.e. both commands "sudo shutdown now\r" and "sudo poweroff\r" and then it asked password so I needed to send the password string after recieving off command and it worked well.??

Not necessary to send the password.? The Crestron module will handle that for you as long as you keyed in the right credentials in the Crestron module's parameters. It does it both for the initial log in and also when you send a sudo command.? All you need to send is "sudo shutdown now\r".? "sudo poweroff\r" will probably work too but I never use that command.? The command may not work if you don't include the \r carriage return command.? If that does not work, try \n.? You want to delay sending your sudo command for a 5 to 10 seconds -- otherwise you may be trying to send the command before the connection is fully established.

I would use SIMPL debugger to inject the commands and see which one works.

I did manage ssh connection from controller and from my own PC. From my PC I did putty ssh connection and then when I send "sudo poweroff", it asks me to enter password and after entering password my Linux goes shutdown. And from crestron it create the ssh connection and I can see in debugger that it is connected but when I send "sudo poweroff" nothing happens, I also try "sudo poweroff|password" but nothing happen. May be if you know how did u send password after sending string to it??

That is a very broad question and it could take me hours to explain all the details.

The module you want to use is "SSH Interface v1.3 (cm)" not the "SSH Interface v1.3 Processor (cm)"

Like I said I never have used that module before.? But I just tried it and it does work.? And I was able to shut a remote linux computer down with it.? I didn't even have to read the help file on the module to make it work.

I suggest you watch some YouTube videos on ssh and practice from another computer making an ssh connection to your Linux box.? Once you figure out how to do that, it should be obvious on how to make the Crestron module work.

I have one Sonos connect and I put the Sonos modules in program slot 8. My Sonos stopped working a few days ago and I reset slot 8, waited a few minutes and nothing. Then I reset the power to the actual Sonos, waited and still blank media player. Then I reset slot 8 again and after a few minutes the Sonos worked again on media player.

I did not reboot my PRO3 or the main program. But what a joke it takes a song and dance to get it working again

Unless Crestron fixed their firmware issue (the release notes for v4 were a bit vague) that was reported in v3, the sample configuration on Crestron's website isn't terribly accurate. You should uncheck querier election and specify the IP address of the querier.?
Also, as others have mentioned, hope all NVX traffic is contained to a single switch and double check the PoE budget for any E30's/D30's in the system.

Possibly check power.? I had something similar happen to me during a firmware update and it I believe because I was using a PoE port on a switch and not a PoE+.? Once I put in a PoE+ injector problem went away.??

I remotely shutdown Linux computers all the time.? Very easy.? Just open an ssh session to the Linux computer and issue a "sudo shutdown now" command.

You will probably have to install the ssh server package on your Linux computer as it is usually not installed by default (security reasons).? You do that by opening a terminal and executing:

sudo apt install openssh-server

Also, if you have a firewall installed on you Linux box, you will need to allow port 22 to pass.? I would put a rule in there also to limit ssh connections from only certain IP address and limit the number of attempts to prevent someone from brute forcing their way in.

While I have never tried it, Crestron has an ssh symbol that should allow your Crestron processor to connect to your Linux computer.

+1 for the net gear like everyone is saying. It just works. They’ve even got this magic thing called IGMP+ that handles some of the more advanced routing without having to setup PIM or anything.?

ive also done Luxul XMS and while we got it working it took a lot of effort, hours on phone support, and even a beta firmware.?

I am guessing to start up ubuntu/linux, normal wake-on-lan will work, but can anyone help out regarding how to shutdown the ubuntu/linux PC via crestron command?

Be aware, though, that there are some calls that require waking the car to gather information. It’s not generally an issue, but doing it too often can have an affect in range.?
