Re: NVX E30 & D30
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIt is possible to set a fixed resolution on an Xfinity cable box. On the X1 platform press Menu, settings, device preferences, video output. Choose a resolution you desire.?On an older firmware box turn it off, press menu and a config GUI will appear. There is an option there to set a fixed resolution. After it is set press power to turn the menu off, then press power again to turn the box back on. Ryan Cunningham? On Oct 7, 2020, at 5:53 PM, Scott Coumbe <scottcoumbe@...> wrote:

Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
So for me, after much fiddling, removing ALL my favorites then HWR regained control. The threshold for my setup seems to be about 5 or 6 favorites before it all goes for a long walk out in the corn field. At the office using the same troubleshooting we can only add 1 favorite before it poops the bed. A much larger clients system with about 15 Sonos Amps we can¡¯t seem to get back under any circumstances. In this system we are only using the module for volume control and FB...not using it for favorites at all, the app however has favorites but the integration has everything commented out but play, pause, volume and volume FB.

Just remember your ¡®extra hours¡¯ are worth something too. As well as the user experience of the end product. Trust me when I tell you that you don¡¯t want to go down the rabbit hole of a mostly functioning or almost functioning NVX setup and it turns out to be easily resolved by using the right switch.

Re: NVX E30 & D30
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAgain, since the E/D series don¡¯t scale the question is if the cable box is changing output resolution to match the source ¨C if it¡¯s possible to make the cable box always output the same resolution that may eliminate your problems, otherwise putting a scaler between the cable box and the E30 may be your best bet ¨C at least to try. ? In the Crestron world a HD-SCALER-HD-E would be the option if the source is guaranteed to be 1080p or lesser; if you need a 4K solution I think you¡¯re looking at something outside the Crestron ecosystem unless you either replace the E30 with one of the 3xx boxes or I¡¯ve missed a new product announcement somewhere along the way. ? -- Lincoln King-Cliby, CTS, DMC-E-4K/T/D ? My current issue is with the Cable Boxes. Sometimes they will change channels no problem. Other Times the screens will go black.? if I power cycle the cable box. the image comes back up. Also for some reason I cannot display SD content from the cable boxes. Called their Tech Support. No Help.? I think I need to add something before the E30 but really have no idea where to start.? I think I bit myself for going "cheap" and not going with the 350's |
Re: NVX E30 & D30
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI haven¡¯t come across it but keep in mind the D/E series don¡¯t do any scaling ¨C so it¡¯s possible that some source (/source resolution/HDCP requirement) has gotten the display confused enough that it needs to see a hot plug event to whack itself upside the head. ? Would be interesting to see what the status page on the decoder looks like when things were in the ¡°broken¡± state ? -- Lincoln King-Cliby, CTS, DMC-E-4K/T/D ? I've had a lot of success with the NVX-35x series and a Cisco Sg350 switch but recently our company has been selling more of the D30 and E30 (which makes sense if you dont need a scaler and only one input)? But I have noticed on a couple occasions especially the D30s where the audio will pass but no video out of the HDMI.? Simply plugging in local power fixes it.? So my question would be is there anything in the switch that is causing this?? I have checked POE budget and for example the last job this happened at the switch had around 700 watts and we were only using around 230 watts.? Wasn't sure if anyone else has ran into this as I would like to get to the bottom of it as these devices do not come with power supplies.? Thanks |

Help with retrieving file with special characters [simpl+]
Hello.
I'm working on a small program to extract a text from a .txt file in the \\NVRAM of the processor. Something strange is happening and I can't explain it. First, the language is french so a lot of accents are involved. For the purpose of testing, I wrote this sentence on the .txt file: "?tre l¨¤ o¨´ c'est No?l l'¨¦t¨¦ ¨¤ l'ann¨¦e" Now in debugger I see "\xCAtre l\xE0 o\xF9 c'est No\xEBl l'\xE9t\xE9 \xE0 l'ann\xE9e" which makes sense to me, but when I connect this signal to a formatted text on a touch panel, it does not get converted properly and I see exactly that... To make things even more interesting, if I press "send" on the signal in debugger, it then prints normally on the touch panel! Let me try this again... the signal out of the SIMPL+ module is tied to a MSP and directly to the serial join of the TP. When I retrieve the file the TP reads "\xCAtre l\xE0 o\xF9 c'est No\xEBl l'\xE9t\xE9 \xE0 l'ann\xE9e" When I press "send" on that signal in debugger the TP reads "?tre l¨¤ o¨´ c'est No?l l'¨¦t¨¦ ¨¤ l'ann¨¦e" What does pressing "send" makes that the command "FileOpen ("\\NVRAM\\test.txt", _O_RDONLY|_O_TEXT);" does not? I tried the flag _O_TEXT or _O_BINARY without any change... what am I missing? Thanks for any insight. |
Re: CNXLIR communication issue
Another thing to check is if the correct type of RS-232 cable is being used (crossover or straight through). Geoff On Wed, Oct 7, 2020 at 2:07 PM Lincoln King-Cliby <lincoln@...> wrote:

Q-SYS Crestron modules v5.0
Has anyone been successful using v5.0 modules?
If so, what databases and Simpl Windows version are you using? Currently, the Simpl+ modules for v5.0 are causing the CP3 to reboot over and over. Tried downgrading databases and firmware but haven't found the right combination. |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSounds like you¡¯re stuck with it regardless, but¡ ? ¡°Cheapest L2/L3 switch¡± is not a good qualifier for NVX (or any other traffic intensive application). ? I¡¯m also not sure to what extent I¡¯d call Luxul a reputable [switch] brand ¨C maybe it¡¯s a residential vs. commercial thing but I¡¯ve not heard of/seen them outside this group and I¡¯m not exactly inspired as to their network chops from their site. ? I¡¯m particularly suspicious of their small switches which my gut is telling me (based on similarity to other switches in terms of size, physical configuration, and specs) are based on a reference design and not built in house ¨C but just as likely the larger/managed switches get actual engineering love. ? -- Lincoln King-Cliby, CTS, DMC-E-4K/T/D ? Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
True Blue has received mixed results from the field, including:
The Sonos team has been treating this as priority 1, and some prerelease builds are already being tested to resolve the changes in S2 12.1. When new information (such as ETA or announcement of fix) is available, it will be posted to , so I'd advise clicking the Notify Me link there. |
Really really appreciate all of the feedback, you guys are great.
The reasoning behind the decision to go with the Luxul unit is purely based on budget constraints, it's one of the cheapest L2/L3 switches from a reputable brand out there (unless I'm missing something), and we are only needing 12 NVX tx/rx, so a 16 port unit will do. And although the network consists of a couple of switches, all of the NVX traffic is going to be contained on a single switch. So I better prepare to put up extra hours to get this working then... |
