Custom Edid file?
Hi all. Currently doing my first Barco We Connect system and we have a Barco node (Intel nuc) that is connected to a Samsung lcd screen in portrait mode.? Problem is, there is no way to set the output resolution of the Barco node to portrait as it relies on the edid info from the screen which in this case is presenting as 1920x1080.
After lots of searches for edid emulators that will do an edid of 1080x1920, I thought about the possibility of using a TX201-C and loading a custom edid on to it.? Then placing it between the Barco node and the monitor. (using the hdmi loop out of the 201 to feed the screen.) Having never played around with crestron edid tool before, can anyone advise if this might even be possible? I managed to have a quick look at the edid tool today but nothing jumped out at me as being able to create a completely custom edid.? Anyone done portrait displays before and come across anything that might help me out? Cheers |

Assuming you didn't change the default install path, /opt/crestron/virtualcontrol/ProgramLibrary/X/App, where X is the program number (sequential from 1 since you started uploading programs).

Controlling a Crestron HD-MD4X1-4KZ-E with a Extron MLC Plus 84 D touch pad using TCP or UDP
Hello Programmers,
Due to supply issues with the MPC3-302, our client forced us to come up with another solution.? My boss was told from a crestron rep, that extron can control the crestron switcher over ethernet using Extron's universal driver for TCP or UDP.? Is there anybody out there? (Pink Floyd ref.) with experience in this setup?? As far as what commands to send the switcher and if there is any additional setup on the switcher side?? I'm on room 1 of 40 and this is the only thing that's keeping me from moving forward.? |

VC-4 retrieving LPZ
#vc4
Does anyone know where the .lpz is stored on a vc4 box?? I would like to have the option to retrieve the lpz before doing things like updating the linux version or the VC-4 version, in case something goes awry.??
Thanks, Mike |
I think I have a solution for most of my problem here,? I dug up an old D3Pro project that had 6btns on it and got an engraving file out of there. Next, I took it and put it into a different project folder changing the name of it to an existing keypad.? when I opened the that project back up I was able to program it as a 6btn keypad. This worked for me because I had an old Cameo v2 file and the keypad I was trying to program was a Cameo v2.? But now I'm searching for an original Cameo v1 (C2N-CB) file for other keypads in the project.? Anyone have the same idea or thoughts on this?? Or should a cameo v2 work in place of the original cameo if I change the button type to a v2?? I kind of think it will but I only get one shot before I screw up the original programming.? And why can't people just make archives?!

Re: Steamist port for communication
John,
This is not directly related to your specific symptoms, but I've found that a lot of quasi-tech devices like this have an issue with Wifi SSIDs that supply both 2.4 and 5g. If you haven't already, you might want to set up a separate SSID just for the Steamist with 2.4g only... |
Re: Poly "Partner Mode" - external control?
It's been awhile since I tested, but I don't believe there is much control available. You have access to the commands that change the modes on the unit and query what mode it is in, etc... But nothing is really available the affects the zoom room application itself or the? video conference features when in zoom room mode.
If you have access to a unit you can use Postman to go through the api commands to verify. |
Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today
My latest article, "How Amazon¡¯s Struggles May Affect Smart Home Owners¡± is being published by the good folks at Residential Tech Today Magazine on their web site.
This article looks at recent industry events related to AI powered virtual assistants and Amazon's Alexa in particular.? It also explores how these events may impact the use of virtual assistants as the user interface of choice in the smart home and where things may be going in the future. You can find the article here: For those interested in earlier articles that I've written, you can find those here: Finally, for those that want to see even more content I've written about smart home technology you can find that here: Thanks |

True Blue verbally confirmed this last week on a support call I was on, currently no support of dual NIC VC-4-PC-3. With that being said, they still hung out and got it working properly to my knowledge, I had to jump off that call early but I have monitored emails that indicate all is functioning.
One of our biggest issues was the metric settings and which NIC the VC-4 was trying to use to phone home, it would always default to the NIC without internet access. |
Re: VC-4 USB Ethernet no longer possible

There was previously a script that could be run to set up the second NIC as a control subnet. I used this in one conference room and had a lot of issues that True Blue ended up having to fix. Went to try the script in a second conference room and the answer ID had disappeared. True Blue told me they took it down because it was causing a lot of issues and needed to be recreated and tested. So for the time being just static the second NIC for control.?
