My answer is I set up a room view system at my house and learned how it worked.
Crestron has example programs to help you learn if you don't know how to do something. It really is not that bad.

I agree with Neil completely.
My own opinion is that asking for help on a certification test only lessens the validity of the test. I do nearly 100% resi. I've never deployed RoomView (in any version) in my life. BUT, I know what it does and what it's useful for. I follow information about the DMPS line of gear even though I'll probably NEVER see a single part in my line of work. At the end of the day, that type of research, knowledge, and understanding makes me a more valuable programmer.
Perhaps Patrick's response was not worded well but he isn't wrong. If you aren't well versed in what Crestron has to offer (in all product lines), why should you be certified? There's a reason the test has both residential and commercial aspects to it. I myself struggled with the commercial side (largely because I was over thinking it) and I know plenty of commercial guys that had the same problem with the resi side of the test.
At the end of the day, it's your test. The irony is, if you hadn't said you were looking for help on your test, you probably would have gotten some helpful info without the grief.

Yes, at least I can drag and drop the "TCP/IP Server" to my CNXENET+ in my CNMSX-AV.

I'm still using a old cnmsxpro to run my theater. I know the original cnxenet won't work with it but the later "+" version which I have has much more funtionality. I'm planning to build a big server to rip all my dvd's and bd's to so I can rid my self of the stack of 400 disc changers that I have. MCE controller won't be of much use if the pro's ethernet card can't do it.

I should add though (so not to be totally unhelpful) that although I've done more than my share of Roomview systems, I've never had one where messaging was even close to becoming part of the scope so the best I can offer is to scour the documentation and/or build a Fusion server to play with.

So I have a an AV2 as the main processor, an MC2E for HVAC/Security integration, and an MC3 for streaming music server.
The MC3 stops communicating with the AV2. I can see the AV2 getting update requests from the MC3, but it continues to say offline in the AV2 iptable. The MC3 iptable says unknown, not offline. This has happened once before and rebooting the MC3 fixed it. But I need to determine what's causing it.
The MC2E hasn't ever had this problem.
Any thoughts?

CNXENET+ work with tcp/ip server?
I'm still using a old cnmsxpro to run my theater. I know the original cnxenet won't work with it but the later "+" version which I have has much more funtionality. I'm planning to build a big server to rip all my dvd's and bd's to so I can rid my self of the stack of 400 disc changers that I have. MCE controller won't be of much use if the pro's ethernet card can't do it.

Why do you say alternative to HDBaseT? Then you say alternative to Crestron? Did you mean you want an HDBaseT solution that is not Crestron? While I do think that Crestron DM is the Rolls Royce of digital switchers, there are many others available with HDBaseT that will do the job minus a few features that DM offers. But if you don't need the features and price is a factor there are others to consider:
Zigen - they offer a wide range of switchers and many HDBaseT extenders. I have used these in projects and they worked great. They have a modular 8x8 switcher that is card based so you can buy the frame and populate as needed. Great if you need an odd configuration like 8x4 and don't want to spend the money for a full 8x8 when you don't need the extra outputs. Email me offline if you need pricing.
Wyrestorm is great and has a wide range of products, but not the cheapest of HDBaseT manufacturers.
Altona is good as well and fits a nice middle ground on price.
Binary is very nice and also good on the price. I have a Binary 4x4 HDMI in my personal theater.
RTCom (digital extender) makes a nice switcher that has a good price ()
Options are fewer once you go into the 16x16 and higher range.
RTCom makes a cardframe based 18x18 that can hold a mix of HDMI, DVI, CAT6 and fiber cards. () Email me offline if you want pricing.
Aurora Multimedia has cardframe based switchers in 8x8, 16x16 and 32x32 sizes that allow you to build based on the type of inputs/outputs you need.

You may be on to something there...
I know I haven't changed the TStat setup since before I last updated the firmware, and I remember at the time thinking that the anticipators weren't having any/much affect. And the anticipators were set for what I "thought" would do what I wanted based on the manual (e.g. backwards from what reality appears to be) -- I'm using a "normal" single stage system (burner/forced air heat and ac).
On the 2nd floor (Kitchen/Living) where the TStat is, there really isn't a "less bad" location for either the stat or an RTS, but I would like to get an RTS on the 3rd floor (Master Bed) anyway so I might force myself to do that while I'm doing some other work over the summer -- if any of this "free time" I hear speak of surfaces.
I haven't seen the OD temp behave as you describe using an RSS for OD... Before that, I originally had a RTS that did all sorts of weird things toward the end of its life including at one point reporting the OD temp oscillating between something like +126F and -200F until you entered and exited setup, but that clearly wasn't a firmware issue.

A different sensor behaves the same way and the problem started when I updated the firmware. Just downgrade firmware and waiting to see if the problem recurs. If I recall correctly, there are heating and cooling 'anticipators' in the setup screen on the tstat. Sounds like the cooling one may be set a bit too aggressively.

Or am I barking up the wrong tree in the first place?
