I have also tried this:

Re: Using a DM switch for KVM functions at the rack?

Using hid device work great on different project.

For any flashdrive, we use a ethernet dlink device accessible via shareport.

I have done this on a system where the local pc is in a rack room.

With private network you connect the device on the lan port of the tx and
you assign the device

Can be problematic if you share the computer in multiple room.

I know some manufacturer have usb 2.0 who works perfectly
Over cat5 or fiber.

I would not do it with DM. I haven't been real crazy about the level of
USB support (devices that work reliably vs. not even just within the "HID"
realm) and stability.

Stability is probably fixed by now (after being bit with some early
projects it hasn't been revisited), but you're probably better off using a
real KVM/USB switch for the broadest support.

If you have to go down the path I would go with your option (a) but that's
really a "gun to my head" alternative.

I've got a 32x32 DM switch and I want to put a local kb/mouse and monitor
in the rack that I can use to view and control several of the computer-type
sources coming into the switch. I essentially want to use an extra output
on the DM as a KVM switch.

I can see on most of the input cards where I would connect USB to the
sources in the rack for them to be controlled, but how do I get USB from my
local kb/mouse into the DM so it can be routed?

None of the output cards seem to have a TypeA USB connection on them. The
only options I see are:

1) use an 8G+ (or classic DM) output with a short patch cord to an RMC-200
or RMC-SCALAR receiver for the local monitor/kb/mouse - routing the monitor
and the reverse USB control from the front panel would be intuitive

2) use an 8G+ (or classic DM) input with a short patch cable to a TX-200
transmitter, just using the USB input on the TX for the kb/mouse, while
still using a separate output on the switch to feed the monitor - routing
the video to the monitor and the USB control from the TX on the front panel
would be less than intuitive

Am I missing any other way to accomplish this? Am I crazy to want this
type of functionality at the rack?

Cold Cathode Flickering

I am facing an issue with CLXI-2DIM8&1DIM4 modules. I've connected halogens & cold cathode fixtures on these. There is a very puzzling issue that we are facing in this project. The CLXI-xdimx modules are not able to dim the cold cathode fixtures(sourced from Tecnolux,Italy) and there is a lot of flickering as soon as the fixture is dimmed.

We temporarily installed the DIN-1DIMU4 module and the same fixture was successfully dimmed on the trailing edge mode but not on leading edge.

We tested other leading edge dimmers from brands like schneider etc on the same fixtures and didn't observe any flickering on the same.

Will be glad if advised on resolving this issue.

Hi,

After a minor update on a Simpl+ rather complex Adagio program, uploading
the new program failed and left the unit without a program.

I can't load a new one (or the old one) using Toolbox, not even console

pinging the IP of the unit suggests it is unstable. it alternates responding
to the ping requests and not responding (loses 35% of the packets)

Any idea how I can get this unit back to work...? Or even why it is
misbehaving...?

Thanks!

Re: Adagio unstable after program update attempt

I had a very similar issue with my AMS. Problem was two fold, first was program size (Adagio is very finicky about program size and available memory). Second was I had an xpanel project that was sucking up too many resources, deleted it and everything began to load and run smoothly again. Only issue since have been with the AudioNet card locking up / freezing on a regular basis. New firmware seems to force a reboot everytime it locks up, just not sure if that was the intention.

Re: DMPS and HDMI Audio Return Channel?

Plus with the inconsistency of ARC in the market why would you want that
sort of headache. Out of the 20 times that we have tried to use the feature
we have only gotten it to work once and that was a headache all in its own.
Any time we plan on taking audio back out of the display unit we convert the
optical output to analog and send it back via a balun.

Another great feature that is useless and inconsistent in the industry.
