Re: DSC PowerSeries Neo

I tried your advice and started off wtih an IP address of 0.0.0.0, then later latch it to the IP address of the control panel. Still didn't work, sigh!?

Totally out of idea, maybe this Neo DSC control panel has some specific settings for Asia version.... !?

Re: DSC PowerSeries Neo

I'm lost with what you mean by "Neo module is 4 series only?"?

I'm using an AP4, 4 series processor if that's what you mean? It still didn't work.

There's no such thing as DSC Neo 4.x, currently it's v1.1 for it's control panel, thus I'm really not sure what you mean by 4 series. Please enlighten.

Re: Panopto remote recorder login

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Chuck,

?

What hostname are you trying to connect to? Is it fully qualitied, partially qualified, or unqualified?

In text console on the processor if you testdns (that hostname) do you get a result that¡¯s not all 0s? (And if so, do you get the right result?)

Is it possible to share the listdns and ipconfig output from the processor?

?

At first blush this sounds like a lower level network issue than the driver

Subject: [crestron] Panopto remote recorder login

?

Hello,

?

I have been going around?in circles with Panopto, Crestron, and our network group

?

I have taken the Crestron Panopto demo program and loaded it onto a Crestron processor DMPS150 and have connected it to the campus network directly.

?

I am able to, from my desk, login to the Panopto remote recorder using user/recorder/server/etc. info on the demo touch panel. I can name a recording, preview the camera, and start/stop a recording, start/stop stream and receive the stream key to the Extron SMP recorder. This works without an issue

?

Next scenario and?what I need to?work:

I take the same Crestron processor from my desk and go to the rack where the existing processor is located. I plug my test processor into the same network cable as the existing processor. I configure the network settings to match the existing processor so NAT translations will still work as it's now behind a router.

?

After I enter my user/server/recorderurl/etc and click Login I get a screen almost immediately? that says "Unable to Connect to Panopto Server" and an option to Reconfigure. These are messages on the demo touch panel program.

?

The only thing different between these two scenarios?is that the one that doesn't work is sitting behind a router and goes through a NAT on its way out Panopto?to?login.

?

Panopto says it's not their problem and that my login info is correct.

?

Crestron has told me that they don't know how the module works because they didn't write it. Yet it's on their market place.?

?

Our network group says they don't block anything going out so it must be a Panopto or Crestron config problem.

?

Will this work behind a router? NAT???Is there a certain configuration that has to be set up for this to work? Any ideas that I can throw at them to check?

?

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing, it helped a lot.

I can only add that latest Java needs to be uninstalled from PC first, and java 8-251 32bit version is needed.

Crestron did in fact write the module. Tell them you need to speak to the drivers team and tell them you need to speak to Bryce Leach. He is the manager of the team.

Re: Global Cache

I haven't used VC4, but the IP2IR, iTach Flex, and Global Connect line have all been working great for me with Crestron for the last 10+ years. Some of the WiFi versions have occasionally been flaky, but I'm sure that's the RF environment they're in.
We always use static IP addresses and TCP/IP clients in SIMPL. If you use direct sockets, connect when you need to send a command then disconnect after the response.

Global Cache

I have seen that people have successfully used Global Cache equipment with Crestron but it seems that it has only been the?global cache ip2ir.? Has anyone used the flex line or? globall connect successfully?? I have tried the global connect and the flex line and both work for for 8 hours or so the don't work anymore , and if program is restarted it will start working again. Neither worked with VC4-PC3.? Does anyone have any insight.? Does the the?global cache ip2ir work solid with the VC4-pC3??

Re: Needing Suggestions - Connecting multiple buildings with Crestron

Will the institution give you FQDNs? (Fully Qualified Domain Names)

Such as AV-BLDG9-ROOM123-DEVICE1.subdomain.domain.edu

I have a client who does this and it works very well.

Re: Needing Suggestions - Connecting multiple buildings with Crestron

I question the rationale for this.? Anybody can use a free network scanner and in less than 1 minute know what is where regardless of hostname or IP.? Chaning hostnames and IPs really doesn't gain them anything.? It just sounds like they don't have enough to do in the day.? Using authentication on the processors and changing the password every couple of months, that I can understand.? On another note, do the Crestron systems need to be on their internal network?? Can they create an isolated dedicated VLAN for the Crestron systems that no one has access to?? We have had to do this to appease the IT departments before.? If they insist on doing this, which they probably will, this will be a reoccurring fee for them and for you.? That might change their mind.

Re: vs2008 not creating a .clz file

If you look in the build output window, do you see any issues reported there? ?The clz is part of the post build and anything like a sandbox violation will prevent the clz step from completing. ?There should be info about that in the output though.

Failing that, have you tried restarting VS2008? ?It¡¯s generally reliable, but occasionally we see ¡°odd¡± errors like this.

Re: DSC PowerSeries Neo

There are alot of settings that are needed for it to work that need to be set on Alarm and in Simpl, One of the biggest is make sure the IP address is set to 0.0.0.0 not ip address of alarm system.

Re: Needing Suggestions - Connecting multiple buildings with Crestron

The tedious way would be to create a template IP table file and edit FTP it to each processor. That's the .dip file. It's tedious because you'd have to manually edit the file for each program, upload and restart the program.

I have another method that I used to create IP tables for 280 rooms at one site that all had differing IP addresses so I only had to maintain one file, but its an involved process using three different S+ modules and still requires you to ftp into the processors affected, if only to upload the master file.

reply if you want me to go into detail.

vs2008 not creating a .clz file

Greetings all.

So I'm creating a quickie S+/S# module to sort a list alphabetically. I need this module to run on 3 series as the DMPS3 is still with us.

It's been a few years, so I dusted off my copy of vs2008, created the C# code and built it. Builds OK. But it creates? the .dll but not the .clz file.

The project type was set to "SIMPL # Library" and all the properties look the same as an example solution from back in the day, but alas, no .clz.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance all!

Mark

Re: Needing Suggestions - Connecting multiple buildings with Crestron

I am onsite now and an AutoDiscovery query though Toolbox responded with all processors and touch panels from all locations. Since all processors are currently using EISC, is it possible to change to XSIG and if so how?

Re: Needing Suggestions - Connecting multiple buildings with Crestron

The buildings are somewhat irreverent¡ what is the network topology? E.g. are they all on the same VLAN/broadcast domain or does each building (or each floor or each room) a separate VLAN/broadcast domain?

?

If they aren¡¯t in the same broadcast domain Autodiscover won¡¯t work, full stop. If they are in the same broadcast domain if you avoid defining DNS servers on the processor using the hostname configured on processor *may* work acceptably relying on Crestron¡¯s mDNS resolver. However, if the IP changes after the hostname is resolved there¡¯s a decent possibility that the processor will need to be rebooted to re-resolve the new IP. If you can have real DNS records (or CNAMES pointing at the hostnames if they insist on revolving hostnames) this would likely have similar results, though I¡¯m not entirely convinced Crestron processors respect DNS TTL expiry (but I¡¯ve been too impatient to wait it out, and likely would still reflect some disruption of service).

?

If you can have at least one processor (perhaps in a data center) locked to a static IP Address there are a few options (each of which offends my sensibilities in different and relatively minor ways) ?that would allow the edge processors to ¡®float¡¯ at unknown, perpetually changing, IP addresses.

On a campus with multiple buildings, each building is communicating with each other over an Ethernet ISC symbol but now IT Department is requesting for security purposes to change the IP and Hostname scheme every 2 months. This makes hard coding IP Addresses not possible and not wanting to be onsite every 2 months to make changes. I know I can do an Ethernet Discovery to get current device IP or Hostname but can those be hardcoded into an EISC symbol?

Re: NVX With Cisco 9300

Another thing to check is the power settings on the ports.? I was having problems with the over utilization of the POE and had to force a couple ports to the MAX POE to keep them from rebooting once a stream started and the device starting really working hard.
