I'm working on a similar project that is being implemented this summer. Evertz keeps their API very close to the chest but it's nothing special. I think it was more painful getting the info from them (with an NDA) and any documentation for that matter.

The nucleus system requires simple HTTP GET/POST commands to do most things. Setting up routes (sessions) is really straight forward. Feedback can be a bit of a pain (depending on how you poll/subscribe to the return data needed from the nucleus manager). A system with a dozen devices and multiple sessions(routes) established can generate a decent size string of info on the return message (prepare to do some parsing) if you request the session manager to list all sessions currently created in the system, something to keep in mind.?

I'm not sure how my module will work in production yet, but I don't think you have much to worry about if you're just trying to do basic routing commands that are predefined and don't need any dynamic configurations.

I have a larger NVX Install that were are in the first stages of turn up. I am dealing with a corp. IT guy who has never done NVX before-

the final system will be 40 TX and 80+ RX

we have 24 RX online and 2 TX-
power on the first TX and route to displays everything is fine

power on second TX everything is fine


Route second TX and we lose all video.

Unfortunately i am not a Cisco guy and he has never done NVX so we are wstuck at a cross roads-



Any suggestions on where to have him look?

That particular message is most frequently attributed to username case-sensitivity mismatch.
Please check what was typed against the "Your Username" field on the page.

During troubleshooting the “Your Username” and “Email” fields can be set to match, and use all lowercase.
Passwords can also be changed from this page, if needed.

We have had this issue resolved by updating master installer to v 4.00.10. Hope this will help.

That’s correct. I had the same issue with a VC4. Called tech support and they told me to set the gateway same as processor IP. It’s a known issue and they are working on it.

I still think it is something people are doing. I have never had the need to run a time sync module in any of my programs as the time was always correct. I have always put a clock on the panels and I have had clients let me know when I have forgot to enable daylight savings, so I know they do watch those clocks.

I just checked a Pro2 that I have not made any changes on in over 5 years and it was 9 seconds off of my laptop. Maybe people are worried about those 9 seconds, me and my clients haven't been. So I guess you are right, I have never done anything overly time sensitive that a couple of seconds a year would make a difference.

I am super surprised that your CNMSX lost time. I was under the impression that the old MS & CNMSX processors still had real time clock chips.

***EDIT*** I just read up on the crystal real time clocks. They have a 10 to 20 ppm of having drift in time. Maybe I had always gotten the good ones :)

Wow .. I'm having the same issue with an RMC4 and 4 TSW-770, all 4 disconnecting every 3-4 minutes. Been troubleshooting the network runs and my program for hours. Looks like changing the gateway to the processor IP did the trick. Finger crossed. Thanks guys.

Historically whatever the method of timekeeping Crestron used (not sure if it was a crystal, a software routine, or a combination) was not the most robust and was also heavily processor dependent. I remember one time, well before the 3-series existed, we synced all 4 PRO2s (and the CNMSX-PRO, RIP) in our development rack to the same time and just let them run over the course of a couple months. At the end, none of them were at the correct time -- I think the closest was only about 3-4 minutes off, the worst was more like 15-20. So it's not that it "doesn't happen" it's that it doesn't happen at exactly the right time. Some clients may not notice a couple hours (true story...takeover project) while some get anxious over a +/-1 minute deviation.

I imagine over the years with the improvements to hardware and using more mainstream OSes the drift is significantly minimized over the previous generations of HW but there will always be some drift if a device isn't anchored to a reliable time source. I have an older Dell Windows laptop as a "Stupid stuff" machine that tends to lose about 3 minutes over the course of a month if I don't let it sync with the outside world. My microwave drifts, etc. ,etc.

For the OP's question -- in addition to the other sources mentioned, I haven’t yet had a reason to implement one but it seems most GPS receiver boards (and IIRC there are some really inexpensive options) will output current TOD via RS232 in (what seems to be) an industry standard format @ 9600 baud -- then you just need an antenna with LOS to GPS satellites

I hear of people talk about Crestron not keeping time. I have both 2 series and 3 series lighting systems that are not connected to a network at all. I have never heard of a complaint from any of those clients saying time based schedules didn't happen. Some of these systems have been running over 15 years without any update.

My question would be, what causes this time issue you are running into?

I agree with Tony. For some reason on a lot of the newer firmware and devices, if you don't have a pingable IP address as your Default Gateway, you will run into issues.

I had to set the default gateway on the TSW series panels to the IP address of the processor to stop the random disconnects. It's been several weeks and they've all (10+) been stable since.? I didn't take the time to dive into the root cause nor did I contact TBS on this issue.?

Hello. Scratching my head here.

I have all those equipments on a closed network with two Crestron 5 ports switches, at setup I connected my router, gathered all my devices and gave them static IPs. Everything worked OK for the day.
When I disconnected my router to leave, I made a final round to check everything was working but the touch panels started randomly disconnecting and reconnecting, as soon as I connected my router back to troubleshoot, everything was stable again.

I had to leave and come back the next day anyway but it persisted, when I came back the next morning all the panels were randomly connecting and disconnecting until I reconnected my router.
All the devices have static IPs 192.168.0.xxx

Any ideas?

In the US, Time Machines makes GPS based time servers that can be rack mounted.
If you are in Europe, then Gude, a Crestron partner, makes a rack mount time server based on the DSF77 signal broadcast out of Frankfurt.

Then, you just point your devices at your local server.
