Re: Planar Simplicity series 4K LCD. Model SL6564k

We have used these TV's a lot and controlled them via serial and IP many times with the module in the application marketplace.? I would recommend you use a multimeter to pinout the DB9 cable and figure out what color wire is being used for 2, 3, and 5 and then you can land them on the processor. If it doesn't work, then try flipping the TX and RX on the processor.??

I believe with the modules you have to turn off low power mode and the display has to be on initially for the module to initialize.??

Oh, and for the control of the cameras itself, we just used the Crestron Lifesize module.

Hi,

?

we set up two conferencing systems with three cameras attached to a Lifesize Room 220 a couple of years ago.

Since the Room 220 only supports two cameras (HDMI), we added a switcher.

It was indeed a bit tricky to find one that is working, but the Extron SW HD did the job () including camera control.

AFAIR it was near EOL the time we installed it (AFAIR around 2013/14) so we bought another one as a replacement in case of failure.

The systems are still working.

It can be controlled with simple RS232 ASCII commands.

Good Morning,

I'm looking for an HDMI switcher that can work with a Lifesize Icon 600, the camera control is over HDMI which is the big hangup. I tried an Extron SW2 HD 4K based off some vague info I had received from LIfesize, but no go. Obviously some sort of control over the switcher is needed.

Thanks!

Re: Christie Digital SUHD display control protocol

I haven't used that particular panel but had a similar issue with the access series. When first used I had it communicate over RS232 but after a hard power cycle I had nothing. I tried Christie support but they were useless and pointed me at the RS232 command document so I contacted Vestel support. After a bit of back and forth (including pointing me at the same document), their technical guy got in touch and told me they'd updated the protocol to add a login after power loss but hadn't updated the command documentation for this.
Anway, To gain control of the screen again, I had to send the following string: SETUSERSECLEVEL ADMIN 1234\r\n
The login is set in the menu somewhere but by default its ADMIN and 1234.
I can't guarantee it'll work for that screen but it's worth a shot. One thing I found was it didn't give any feedback at all to any commands I sent until I sent that string so there was no clues that this was the problem.

Good Luck!
Phil

Planar Simplicity series 4K LCD. Model SL6564k

We just received this Planar television model SL6564k. Has anybody worked with this TV? I've tried using the Crestron module for this device and could not get it to respond to any commands. I tried serial and IP. I even tried manually sending the commands from the Toolbox with no luck. I even connected the TV directly to the serial port on the processor.?I did put a null modem cable in line with the TV serial cable which did not help. I check the serial cable which is a special cable that came with the unit. (DB9 to Quad 2.5mm) cable adapter.? The cable checks out OK. I'm not sure where RX and TX on the 2.5mm are located. Here whats connected to the DB9 connector. Pin 2 goes to the First ring from the tip, Pin 3 goes to the tip and pin 5 goes to the 4th ring from the tip. I have tried multiple serial cables with no success. Any advice on what I could try next??

Re: Forcing Sonos update on a TSW-x60

According to the Crestron/Sonos webinar today the API has not changed.? So SIMPL Sonos modules, smart graphics and Crestron Home should be unaffected.? The majority of the changes are related to the new hardware (Arc, Play, Sub) that require the S2 app whereas the previous gen gear can still run on S1.

It¡¯s been a long time since I¡¯ve done anything with Lifesize (and even longer since I¡¯ve done Lifesize with a Lifesize camera) but last time I did the cameras were using something CEC-like but not exactly CEC for control and basically anything in the middle caused issues.

?

If you have a switcher that passes CEC (or that you can program to pass CEC, e.g. a DM-MD8X8 or bigger) it¡¯s worth a shot if things have gotten tightened up since I last suffered through LifeSize but your best bet is to either connect the camera directly or use a non-Lifesize camera where control is handled in a standardized manner (namely, VISCA)

Re: Christie Digital SUHD display control protocol

Edited

Rambling story time!

We had a "consultant" specify some of those Christie UHD861-P displays into a job.?

Panel turned on exactly one time before dying (field techs turned it on to change inputs and verify everything was fine). Programmer (newbie who wanted to do a simple system for experience, so I let him have at it) couldn't get it to chooch. Calls me and I run out there to troubleshoot with him. The power supply to the panel was working (could hear a relay clicking) but the panel itself was deader than hell. So we send four field techs out there to get the big SOB off the wall and figure out what they did wrong (the typical programmer vs. tech war). Since the job hadn't turned over yet, we brought the panel back to the office. And again, determined it was super dead. So we call Christie and get an RMA and they send out a replacement unit. Test at the office before delivering. Replacement unit doesn't even turn on once. Even deader than the first one. Call for ANOTHER RMA and again, they send another panel out. This one turns on, but there was something wrong with the input board. So at this point, we have three of these big idiot displays that clearly suck. We call them for a THIRD RMA and they don't have any in stock and it's going to be a while before they do. So we get their blessing to start hacking these things apart to try to determine if there is a loose wiring harness or something... Surely this is something easy and basic since Christie is such a highly regarded company (even though every unit we have ever installed has died shortly after warranty). We end up Frankensteining the first unit's power supply and the second unit's input board into the third unit's panel and finally had a fully functional unit and two partially functional (which doesn't do anyone any good) units needing to be sent back to Christie. So we call and give them an update and tell them we kind of have what we need and that they need to send us call tags for the return and let them know which guts are in which outer panel in terms of serial number. Then they have the audacity to tell us that we're on the hook for the shipping cost of shipping those units back AND they billed us all of the shipping costs of the RMA replacement units! Really? Not only have I sunk a bunch of labor hours into your faulty product, but you now expect us to stick these on a skid and freight them back to you at our expense?!?

So never again. And I will encourage anyone weighing their options when making a choice on display or projector to use almost anyone other than Christie. I realize there are decent incentives, but when there are scores of other reputable manufacturers out there who are competitively priced, do yourself and your client a favor and don't spec Christie. I'm not, nor will I ever say that other manufacturers aren't with their own unique faults, but this went above and beyond putting a bad taste in my mouth. And was incredibly embarrassing to us. And because of the process, ended up significantly delaying the project to the point that we had to take a tiny 65" display from our stock for another project just to get them SOMETHING to look at while they waited for a working unit. The client acted like we were selling some random grey market item that fell off the back of a truck (obviously Christie isn't a household name like NEC, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Sharp, Sony, etc.). I doubt we will be invited to participate in future projects for this client thanks to Christie. And the owner's representative had been working directly with us for MANY years, but the project architect hired an "AV consultant" and the owner's representative couldn't have been more confused by this and didn't understand that we didn't chose the equipment or the functionality. There was clearly no consultation. But now the black eye is solely ours.?

Anyway, sorry for thread-jacking... Back to your post, I had to RS-232 from Hercules to act as a remote control to get things set up in a?logical way. Literally sending menu, up, down, left, right, enter, etc. because some of the functions weren't available from the remote, if I recall correctly. Either that or the replacement units didn't include one. Can't remember.?

One of the weird quirks of the display is that (I think) when it's in standby, it uses a 38400 baud rate. But when it's powered on, it uses 115200. So I would suggest getting it powered on and uses the menu functions to change the baud rate to be the same when it's off/standby as when it's on. This is my recollection (the numbers may be wrong, so check the manual).?

GETQUICKSTANDBY\r\n is a method of getting status according to the other 'tron.

I seem to remember the other other newbie programmer who actually got this working having a lot of "fun" getting it to actually work. He also had to call Christie and they were no help. He eventually got a call from an "engineer" at Christie who knew more about it, but he had already figured everything out by that point.?

Re: Any one idea to change cresnet id from console #crestronapp #crestron

There are a number of console commands that deal with Cresnet devices. A couple of my favorites are:

PPNDISCOVEr - this will return a list of all Cresnet devices with TSIDs (PPNs) listed, which are the 4-byte HEX IDs of the Cresnet devices on the bus
SETCRESNETIDBYPPn - You can use this command in the following format to set the HEX Cresnet ID of a device by addressing it using its TSID/PPN:

SETCRESNETIDBYPP [HEX Cresnet ID] [HEX 4-byte PPN ID]

Hopefully this points you in the right direction.

Any one idea to change cresnet id from console #crestronapp #crestron

Dear All,

Kindly tell how to change cresnet id from console command?
Plz prompt reply

Thanks,

Rajat Dwivedi

Re: Apple TV Audio issues

Like others have said, it's likely from the AppleTV, not Crestron. I've seen the same issue with AppleTV (Netflix app) and Pioneer AV receiver setup. Dialog channel missing from the speakers.

We've always had to change the Pioneer DSP mode to get the dialog back

Re: Forcing Sonos update on a TSW-x60

Wow. Considering the amount of times stuff broke with just a minor version update within ¡°S1¡±, that everything still works moving to what we¡¯re led to believe is an entirely different OS is quite something.

I imagine then S2 must have some sort of legacy integration support.

Re: Dahua Cams Live view #crestron

What URL are you using?

Re: Forcing Sonos update on a TSW-x60

So found a clients site just today where they had updated to the Sonos S2 and actually had no issues, was pleasantly surprised

Re: Christie Digital SUHD display control protocol

On another note - why custom controls?
It is Crestron Connected - why not to use RAD driver for Crestron Conected?
