I was in a hurry last night, let me elaborate a little. If you have a digital connection for say a codec in call state going to one ccross for your equipment and also going to the ccross for your zones, I have had the call state fb show low, even when it was actually high, on the panel because the zone's ccross was connected to an ecross that did not have a signal there. It was my goof and the in call state got added by accident to the zones ccross from a copy and paste. Bottom line only put the needed signals to the correct ccross. I don't know if that may be your issue, but I have chalked that one up to a lesson learned. Also be careful you can create loops if you don't pay attention with your ecross and EISC's. --- In Crestron@..., Randy Gay <touchscreen@...> wrote:

The panel file is different, right?
This is no different than someone upgrading a physical panel with the exception it is several thousand cheaper. The graphics are different and the app is different. From a software standpoint, look at MS Office. Upgrades there are typically paid for, right? Edward J. Mana Technologist Technology On Demand, Inc. |

The process (if I have it correct) is the 1st cross is driven from the tp which then connects to my zone ecross, I then have a zone ccross and source/equip ecross if I f2, my zone ecross drives my zone ccross and the source/equip ecross. I did hope that when I did the intermediate course they would have explained xpoint better than 'It's just 1 big buffer' I did try the way that they showed on the intermediate course and it worked fine for 1 panel, I then became stumped adding the other panels. Whatever I done on the 1st panel was being shown on the 2nd 1. How to correctly route volume control for the zone is one place that stumped me as I normally come out if the zone ecross which then drives all my logic. --- In Crestron@..., "eagrubbs" <eagrubbs@...> wrote:

Remote Access
I know this has probably been discussed before, but I couldn't find it. I've got a couple questions:
1. How do you setup a processor and router to enable access with an iPad externally for control? 2. Ho do you setup the processor and router so that I can remotely load updated programs directly onto the processor without being on-site? 3. Last question, How do you load a VT Pro file onto an iPad locally, so it doesn't have to download from processor every time. Thanks! |
NVS 200 PTZ Control
Hi Group.
I been using those for years, but only now was asked to connect PTZ dome camera to RS485 port. I was able to control the camera from the NVS web page but not from control system Is it any trick with the module or NVS setup? It shows me "offline" in ip table. I created server in NVS setup with control system IP and port, same port in control system port on NVS module. In ip table it shows port 41794 dosn't matter if you changing it in module or in ip table manually always 41794 :( Please help :) Best Regards Artur Zabludovsky |

Almost every time I commission a TSW panel at a major university I get several 'comments' about the lack of mounting security. Frankly, if I was the owner I'd be making the same comments. The light bulb icon on the TSW infuriates most (in particular, educational) clients that don't have integrated lighting. I get that Crestron wants to sell lots of lighting systems, but forcing everyone to look a lighting icon whether or not they've bought a lighting control system is a bit silly. There's nothing about any Smart Object that I've encountered, the media player excepted, that led me to suspect that I did anything but loose time by employing them. If on any particular project I am on the fence regarding time saved/lost, the first time I version up the VTP file and recompile, my mind is made up as I stare at the mass of CED files. Ever want to change the color. . .the f*^king color. . .of the active state of a button on a TSW panel? The nightmarish time vampire that is the Advanced Button is not the droid I was looking for (hint: neither is the Theme Editor). You've worked in my home state enough to understand this anecdote. . . Ever take a GUI with a bunch of buttons that turn blue when pressed to the major state university who's colors >aren't< BLUE and gold? Yah, I haven't either, and it's cost me plenty of extra effort when using the 'wonderful, new time saving Core 3 interface' to achieve that non-blue look. This after I had a Crestron RSM tell me, face to face with a the owner of a dealer sitting next to me, that 'The new Core 3 interface delivers a 40% savings in programming time, so you can charge your clients less'. And where are my manners, I haven't so much as mentioned Studio. How many years has this thing been in development, and the end result is this project-is-a-database mess? Seriously? Does anyone with any decision making power on the Studio team even a have a Facebook friend who ever got paid to program a Crestron system, let alone actually commission one for real dollars themselves? Simpl and VTP aren't exactly collaboration friendly programs, but at least they don't go out of their way to block such activity. Maybe it's this crappy Super8 hotel I'm stuck in tonight, regardless that post does as somewhat cranky. Perhaps a jog across the street to a local drinking establishment is in order. Xpoints sound right to me for what you have. Buffers would be bad being that each ipad can control a different zone at the same time especially with analogs and serials. I have learned that xpoints can have a behavior that you don't want on the other panels when you land the signal on a control cross that connects to an equipment cross that does not have any connection, it reads it as low. So be careful. If you need more xpoints use them, just figure out in your head what is happening before you do it. I am talking about the control xpoints BTW.

Re: DMCO-55 with Intelix DIGI-HDE-R HDBaseT receiver?
This makes sense looking at Crestron history(Cresnet, QM, iMedia, DM). ?Since Crestron was the first to get HD-BaseT. ?(Anyone correct me if I'm wrong because now I'm talking out of my butt, but follow my thinking.) ? ? The standards were set with HD video, control and Ethernet in a single Cat 5e/6 cable up to 330' for HDBaseT. ?Crestron kept with the standards and provides all 3. ?Video is video and they couldn't mess with that, however, with control and Ethernet they could devise their own protocols and LAN setups, therefore, you can probably hook up any HD-BaseT receiver to a DM-C out and get video and I would further guess any transmitter would work with a DM-C in also however no control will work nor pass ethernet. ?In the rest of the HDBaseT world, any TX, switcher or RX should work with any other cross manufacturer pollination if I am reading the standards correctly. The manufacturers can use their "Proprietary" control as a means of
getting around it I guess. ?Since when is LAN proprietary?? ________________________________ From: eagrubbs <eagrubbs@...> To: Crestron@... Re: New Simpl Icons
After 15 years of Crestron bliss, to me the honeymoon ended when it started with releasing the DMPS-300 before it was ready(or before the real firmware showed up)...I adapted after hundreds of hours of field testing for Big Blue and got over it(well not quite) then the release of Studio and Core 3 aka Smart Graphics ?aka not really smart Graphics ?aka Don't get me going on that. ?Well now I'm seeing manuals with wrong information in it. I have a contractor who has blown up 2 TST-600-WALLS because of the manual. ?So BEWARE....... RTFM is a thing of the past. ?By the way, TB told us not to use the Ethernet in it as its not working properly yet. ??
I bleed Blue as much as anyone in this group but sometimes it takes a little push back from their faithful to get things going in the right direction again. ?Change for the sake of change is stupid....change needs a purpose derived and pushed from the people who use it in the real world and might I also add needs to be tested thoroughly before it makes it to the real world. ? Enough preaching for today...where's my beer? ? ________________________________ From: Steve Kaudle <skaudle@...> To: "Crestron@..." <Crestron@...> Sent: Tuesday, August 13, 2013 8:09 PM Subject: Re: [Crestron] New Simpl Icons Frankly, I think the direction they've been headed on the software front in perticular, is quite worrisome (the recent lifeline given to VTP and Simpl not withstanding).? Would like some guidance please
Hi All,
I am getting what feels like poor help from tech support and would like your help please. I have only ever programmed a few systems and I am learning as I go (Crestron is a side line that is a by product of what I actually do for a living (design and build TV/Satellite distribution systems)and as I own my own company I do not have the benefit of a programming team). If ever I have come stuck and call TB I do not get any further with my issue. I have only been able to get on with the help from you guys here (again, many thanks for you help and patience). I previously posted a question about a button push delay which I am getting round to fixing (client has gone away for a bit so it is not vital at the moment) I asked TB if they could look at my code to see where I may have gone wrong and the response I got was 'it is not standard programming so we will not look at it right away and maybe able to look at it at the end of the week'(I followed the multi zone xpoint guide, tp.zone.equip) now this was on a Monday. I was under the assumption that although there are 20 some ways to get the same result in simpl, simpl is simply simpl and any tech support staff should be experianced/skilled enough to look at a program written by someone with my little experiance. After that, I then had another issue when I added a zone and iPad to a system, called TB sent them the files and they could not replicate the fault. After sending pics and video at their request I managed to work out that the install of the app must have been corrupt because when I deleted the app and reinstalled it the fault had cleared. So I asked the guy if they way I am writing my code is correct as I do not want to pic up bad habits which I do not know about. He said that my code was complicated and over kill for the requirements. He said that xpoint is good but not always useful and can make the program bad. I asked if he could point me in the direction of a file that may assist me. He said 'do the intermediate course' which I have done and it was not that helpful as they did not cover xpoint in any depth. Now for the above system in question, I have 4 iPads, 6 zones and 9 sources. All the iPads can control any of the zones. Now I worked out that I would need about 78 buffers to do this without xpoint (have only got 1 panel working as when I add the other panels and debug the system I get no control and all panels are acting as 1). Now if I do it with xpoint I only use 25 symbols and although it is a bit buggy, it works. So my question is this: What is the best way in the situation above to program the systems. Thank you for taking the time to reading this. DoXe |
