Re: Cross Point connected to multiple Equipment
That's why a lot of use multiple crosspoint connect symbols, normally one for each touch panel, that way you just leave the panel connect and change equipment. Although, disconnect all disconnects EVERY symbol, just not the one you pulse it on. Thus the warning, I believe.

Re: Sort of OT: Seamless WiFi roaming?
This wasn't the virtual cell system that they sell, but a micro cell system? I didn't realize they had a microcell system with a controller available. Or maybe I'm confused as to how the virtual cell system would show up on a wifi scan.

The real lesson to be learned here is: Don't learn crosspoints on anything
that your wife might be using! Better yet, don't develop anything on it. ;-) (I always do changes on a secondary room and when I'm convinced that the new stuff won't get me an angry wife-call in the middle of the work day, I'll load it to the other rooms. Been there.) On Sun, Apr 22, 2012 at 7:46 PM, timfauser <tsfauser@...> wrote: ** [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Sounds like you are programming for an "enhanced" interrogation area - keep them terrorists of kilter with weird light schedules.

Re: Serial control using a USB port

I have the radio shack one and the keyspan. I like the keyspan more, but the radio shack one comes with a 6 foot cord and can mate directly to most devices, which makes it ideal for most setups when you just need to set up the ethernet.

For doing debug via serial, use the keyspan. The radio shack one does not like to have large amounts of data passing through it all the time. Also, you may want to look into the Crestron usb ir learner and the Engo one. I have not tried either, but have heard nothing bad about the Engo one. --- In Crestron@..., "mm24all" <martinp@...> wrote:

I've put in a Pakedge microcell network with 3 waps (not a huge system, I'll admit), but it's incredibly stable. I can download a file continuously while walking from corner to corner of the place with some pretty bad interference from neighboring wifi. I haven't heard a single complaint about iPad connections, but I didn't do the crestron program there, just the network. I assume it's pretty good based on my laptop testing.

You set it up via the controller once, but yes, the waps show up on different channels with the same SSID if you do a wifi scan. I've also seen some Netgear stuff advertise wireless management and they have a controller to go with it, but I can only imagine the pita the setup might be. The Pakedge setup is relatively simple and their tech support is really good. --- In Crestron@..., "floyd1212" <floyd1212@...> wrote:

Yes, use S+ to modify the TOD string sent to any room not using local time/date.

Re: Off Topic - killing laptops - any advice?
use smcFanControl on the mac and crank the fans up to get rid of the heat.
run "Repair Disk Permissions" using Disk Utility on the mac, you would be surprised at the weird problems that will fix. On Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:42 AM, oldspunky <paul@...>wrote: ** [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

I was about to call hogwash on that, but as it turns out, my disconnect_all actually connects to DiscFromC. I find that one very handy, and probably the one he wants. I find that much easier than trying to remember which device was connected previously.

C2N-TFM Showing up as "UNSUPPORTED DEVICE"
I am setting up the network on a system I'm about to upload to. Running through the devices when discovering, it pulls up an error for the C2N-TFM. It says "Unsupported Device". It will let me keep going, but any idea what this means?
The processor is a CP2E and I am programming this system in SB. |

I think almost everyone in the group has gone through that problem(or similar). Also, the InUse signal does not always stay high, it has a tendency to go low for a couple of waves(at least in my experience) when connecting a new controller to an equipment cross point. I use a ROS and an AND to make sure that it stays high until the inuse has gone low for X seconds. I doubt you will need this info, but stay away from DiscAll. It will reek nothing but havoc on a system. Good if you want to break the system, but I have yet to find a good use for it. --- In Crestron@..., Tim F <tsfauser@...> wrote:

Re: Polycom QDX6000
I was working on one last Friday and spent two hours on tech support with Polycom. The bottom line is that I ran into the EXACT same problem you did. I didn't have any luck and I used both the included 'pass-thru' cable supplied, and without it.

I ALSO did not get component video output to work on the unit at all. Polycom is advance replacing a unit which should arrive tomorrow (Monday, 4/23/12) and I will be trying it again in-house instead of on-site. The protocols API is available from their support website, but the bottom line is that it is identical for IR control to the HDX series units. So, using the Crestron provided HDX module, at the very least, you should have IR control functionality. I did not have this control, I did not EVER get this control... So, I will see again on Monday what occurs, but I would love any insight that you, or anyone else gets, in this regard. I will first hook it up with a known good cable with only pins 2, 3, and 5 connected. I know that sometimes over-pinning a serial cable with some products can mess things up. So, I'll go from there. At least Polycom was willing to spend over an hour (!!!) on the phone troubleshooting this product. It just scares me what getting the VTC to actually work will be like considering the headache with this part of the setup. --- In Crestron@..., "stranded" <strandedyahoo@...> wrote:

Re: Just posted Insteon lighting & thermostat control modules that I developed
Bumping an old topic, but wanted to see how your experience has been if you are still using them with the Insteon products. I have a number of residential properties which clamor for some lighting control but aren't up for the pricing of Lutron.

I would love to put this in, and was thinking of using your module (which looks excellent), but wanted a bit more information about your specific setup and your involvement with it. I was also thinking about doing this with my new home. I saw that you recommend the filters, at about 25 bucks each I could certainly throw a half dozen in... But, I was thinking that this may end up controlling 100+ switches in my home when completed, connected to a Pro2. Wanted to know what hardware you were using, because it sounds like you are using this... For 80 bucks, that's an inexpensive way to gain lighting control. Likewise, wanted to know what else may be necessary. I am just registering with the Insteon forums, and I really have no need for advanced functionality beyond 'basic' dimming right now. Even the two-way aspect isn't a big deal to me. But, gaining power line control over lighting for 80 bucks plus a few dimmers in a theater would be a cost concious option to even a Grafik Eye and would be pretty exciting to add to the mix if it is quick and reliable. Would love more thoughts and discussion on this, or other lighting control options which are reasonably priced and expandable. --- In Crestron@..., "Nason Tackett" <nason@...> wrote:
