Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today
My latest article, "How Amazon¡¯s Struggles May Affect Smart Home Owners¡± is being published by the good folks at Residential Tech Today Magazine on their web site.
This article looks at recent industry events related to AI powered virtual assistants and Amazon's Alexa in particular.? It also explores how these events may impact the use of virtual assistants as the user interface of choice in the smart home and where things may be going in the future. You can find the article here: For those interested in earlier articles that I've written, you can find those here: Finally, for those that want to see even more content I've written about smart home technology you can find that here: Thanks |
Re: VC-4 USB Ethernet no longer possible
#vc4
True Blue verbally confirmed this last week on a support call I was on, currently no support of dual NIC VC-4-PC-3. With that being said, they still hung out and got it working properly to my knowledge, I had to jump off that call early but I have monitored emails that indicate all is functioning.
One of our biggest issues was the metric settings and which NIC the VC-4 was trying to use to phone home, it would always default to the NIC without internet access. |
Re: VC-4 USB Ethernet no longer possible

There was previously a script that could be run to set up the second NIC as a control subnet. I used this in one conference room and had a lot of issues that True Blue ended up having to fix. Went to try the script in a second conference room and the answer ID had disappeared. True Blue told me they took it down because it was causing a lot of issues and needed to be recreated and tested. So for the time being just static the second NIC for control.?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThose modules are not so great. I have a set of modules I wrote for qsys l. When I get home I¡¯ll see if I can figure out how to send it your way.Cheers Natalie On Feb 14, 2023, at 6:19 PM, Matt Jones <mexxa84@...> wrote:

I am getting the following error in the error log:

? at QSYSControlV4_2.QSYSNamedControl.set__dirValue (System.Int16 value) Do you guys know what this could be? Is it worth upgrading to 5.1 from 5.0? |

VC-4 USB Ethernet no longer possible
#vc4
I was just told that the (apparently) short lived option to use a second NIC on VC-4 is no longer supported, and that updating VC-4 will break existing installations that are configured in that way. Mike |
Re: Steamist port for communication
So, apparently they had a control failure of the TSC-450.? Steamist supplied a TSC-550 in return.? No longer uses the wifi bridge as wifi is built in to the 550.? Now I don't seem to get any fb.? I verified the IP and am using UDP.? Anyone have any experience with the TSC-550?

Re: Console command(s) for changing a CRESNET device's Serial Number/TSID
#cp4r
I'm connected to just one dimmer module through my CP4-Rs CRESNET port.
And nothing, manually changing its CRESNET ID sadly doesn't do anything, it changes to the one I want, and then when I hit RESCAN on the CP4-R to find the updated dimmer module, its ID changes back to the one its assigning to all of my GLXX-2DIM8s. The weird thing is that the SN being reported by TOOLBOX, is 1 digit longer than the one Crestron uses (and it doesn't match at all), and its TSID is currently "DEADBABE".... |
Poly "Partner Mode" - external control?
I'm going to have a G7500 that will be set up as a Zoom Room in "Partner Mode".? Is there *any* control (presumably through the RESTful API) of the device when it is functioning in Zoom Room mode?? I've run through the Poly website, but their documentation is pretty abysmal regarding what works in "Partner Mode" vs "Video Mode".

I would try one device at a time.? Disconnect all of the devices but one. Then try assigning cresnet id's with toolbox. Re: BSS BLU Matrix Router
Does anyone know if the router control will take an InputValue of 0d to force an unroute if the Route input is held high? Or do you need to feed it the same InputValue as the ActualRoute value and then pulse Deroute? On Mon, Feb 13, 2023 at 2:10 PM BruteForceIsUnderRated via <crestronpro=[email protected]> wrote:

Currently, Toolbox is not bringing up the function to change this device serial number/TSID, so, my question is, can this be done via console command(s)? |
