This happens with all of the 8x batteries after a while. Just like most rechargeable batteries, they technically should be taken off the charger once they are fully charged, and not charged again

It was an engineering change to the IMCW only about a year-two ago. As far as I know they're completely interchangeable as long as you use the matching wall wart for that IMCW and/or use Cresnet power

That's all I've ever seen it affect too, but it was worth looking into. It really sounds like the contacts or circuit board are dirty, since they work for a while before getting "stuck" again.
