Re: QCGB banjo needed
This could be handy; where is this section with drawings Mike?
I also need a banjo but I do not have a mill. So I figured if I could draw

Re: QCGB banjo needed
They can often be found on eBay but expect to pay $300+
If you have access to a mill it would not be a difficult part to make.

Re: DIY powerfeed for mill
IF your Mill is an Atlas horizontal, many came with a power feed. ? You MIGHT find parts to make a conversion
IF your Mill is a vertical, it is a more or less easier project. ?ENCO made a power

Re: Hello. New Owner of Old Atlas Mill
Thank you to all for the references, videos and encouragement! There’s a lot to absorb…especially for this old mind. But, it’s looking more like it’s doable.
Thank you again and i’m sure

Re: Looking for Tooling for my Atlas/Craftsman 101.07403 Lathe

That'll give us a baseline

Re: Looking for Tooling for my Atlas/Craftsman 101.07403 Lathe
Good recommendations on the tool holders.
But he hasn’t said what other tooling he has with the lathe. Without it the lathe is useless, and that tooling can easily cost much more than the lathe

Re: Looking for Tooling for my Atlas/Craftsman 101.07403 Lathe
I didn't see a tailstock in his photo, possibly you're looking at the one in my example photo of a lantern style tool post? That was a photo from the group photos that was the first example of a

Re: Looking for Tooling for my Atlas/Craftsman 101.07403 Lathe
I'm not that familiar with the Craftsman model numbers. But it looked larger than a 6" to me. I would not buy a 6" Atlas/Craftsman lathe now, unless it was a real steal, because I have a better idea

Re: Looking for Tooling for my Atlas/Craftsman 101.07403 Lathe
The tailstock is a late model, probably from the 70’s.
Probably has 1/2” ways too.

Re: Looking for Tooling for my Atlas/Craftsman 101.07403 Lathe
He included the model number in his post, but the compound looks like the 12 inch model. Basically a 10 inch compound with platform shoes…..

Re: Looking for Tooling for my Atlas/Craftsman 101.07403 Lathe
That's not actually a tool holder. It's the compound slide. A T-nut fits in it, and helps clamp the tool holder to the slide. There are a couple common types of tool holders that can fit the Atlas

Re: Looking for Tooling for my Atlas/Craftsman 101.07403 Lathe
Welcome to the world of Atlas Lathes, Joe.
Some questions for you:
What model lathe did you get? ?They made a 6" swing, a 10" swing and a 12" swing, I think, and recommendations will vary.
