Re: atlas 10" quick change tool post
The major advantage to the Van Norman style QCTP? is that it can be made on the lathe. No milling machine? or even milling attachment required. Useful, yes, but not required. ;)

Re: Unbranded 10in. Steady rest

Re: Unbranded 10in. Steady rest
For what it’s worth, my Atlas 10” steady rest has part numbers 10-326B cast in the bottom and 10-326T cast in the top. Also shown is the 1” high riser block I made to use this steady on my Atlas

Re: atlas 10" quick change tool post

Re: atlas 10" quick change tool post
True that, but you can make one of them, yourself, too. Probably easier to make a Van Norman style QCTP. Check out one (or all) of the Mini-lathe groups. The QTCPs for the 7x?? Mini-lathes are a bit

Re: Unbranded 10in. Steady rest
It certainly is curious that there are no casting numbers, but that is an exact copy of the Atlas 10" lathe steady rest # 10-325A

Even so, it's still very fun to make the parts.? Also, you don't REALLY need the best steel for this project.

Re: Acessories for sale
Of course. We all scrounge for parts for these old lathes. Nobody minds getting an early crack at an item, before ebay. As long as you don't spam the list, you're good.
