Like this only make it with a straight shank and out of mild steel. You may have to use your 4 jaw and indicate it in, if youur3 jaw isn't straight enough.?

Re: Collets questions

I like that it comes as a set but that's more than I wanna spend right now just to put keyway in a shaft. Think I'm gonna make a mill bit holder so I can at least make a keyway for now. When I get more time and funds I'll look into it a bit more thank you for finding this for me I appreciate it

Re: Here ya go Bill

That looks like a fun project?? but I think I'm gonna pass?

I made the collet holders after needing to make some really small brass parts.? I had stock, but it was too small for my 4 jaw to hold so started with something big enough to grab and “whittled” it down.

?

The reason for 2 is I also have what looks like a production run of tube ends for my telescope.? 32 pieces and I didn’t have a 3 jaw chuck at the time.? These are big enough for a ? jaw but a lot easier with collets.

?

Mill holder here should do nicely.

Re: Collets questions

Thank you for the information? I think I'll just make a mill holder instead of buying a set of collets? thanks again

I believe the German company Hell made a newspaper halftone

I think people repurposed these back into lathes of some sort.

Sounds to me like you need end mill holders and a milling attachment.?

Just make a mild steel set screw type mill holder.

Thank you. I need a ways to hold bits so I can cut a keyway in a shaft.i don't own a mill yet so I've had to do it in drill press. Does work the best and it's really slow also you can see bit slipping once in a while. So wanna try the lathe method?

Re: Collets questions

The lead screw is 8ft. And yes it's on its own legs I'm putting a 4" I beam under it this week to stiffening it up its gonna be better than what was under it I don't like movement so I found this beam to stick under it. The bed seems to be a lot heavier built than the others I've seen. I probably will brace center somehow. But I don't know exactly how yet. When I get it done I'll take some pictures if I don't forget.?

Is the leadscrew full length ? I'm wonderin ifin some PO somehow managed to graft 2 4' beds together to come up with the? 8 footer . Is it mounted on legs or on a bench? ? If its on a bench how many feet are under the bed ?

??? ??? ya got me going trying to figure this one out .

Yes. It's the older ways with the thinner ays I think they're 3/8. But it has the ladder look down inside to help brace it that are really thick.
