Hi Rick,??
Belated response to your commentary on the repair of the handle assembly. The attached image illustrates the 3 that I restored. Somewhat and time consuming. All had been broken at the

I don¡¯t know if appropriate for the use but Harbor freight has link belts too. I¡¯ve had one on my lathe for at least 15 years.

Re: Atlass MFC knee quesitons.
On the question about raising the knee I've always felt that the effort to raise it was out of proportion to its weight. One of my future projects is to figure out why. I have a friend with one I need

Re: Atlass MFC knee quesitons.
Removing the spindle is not a trivial task. I rebuilt mine with new bearings and a slightly modified spindle to better retain the pulleys which were always coming loose even when I gronked on them

3L link belt isn't cheap, but it is available. I'm not finding any at Travers.com, but MSC-Direct should have it. they did when they were running Enco. Just did a generic search, and found that Amazon

Re: Atlass MFC knee quesitons.
Motor Belt: L3-125
Spindle Belt: M1-85S
The motor pulley is either 9-428 (1/2" motor shaft) or 10-428 (5/8"motor shaft).
Those pulley part numbers are the same as used on the 10" Atlas and 12"

atlas lathe w/QC gears at auction
I discovered this listing at an online auction in my area.? Doesn't specify the size, and pictures aren't great, it's in Baldwin, WI, about an hour or less east of Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota.?

Re: Atlas 6x18 for sale
That is probably one of the best " Tool'd " lathe's I have seen in a while . It has actual tooling , not just a pile of braised carbide or HSS bits . I think its the first 6x18 I've seen with a collet

Re: Atlass MFC knee quesitons.
I have a totally off topic question for you. I just got one of these mills,
and the belts are breaking apart. What kind of belt are you using there? I
see it's not a regular v belt. Do you need to

Re: Atlass MFC knee quesitons.
Your shims are not thick enough. I may be mistaken but I think those shims are in five layer packs, .002" per layer, similar to the shims with the bearing plates under the carriage on Atlas built

Atlass MFC knee quesitons.
I have a couple of concerns about the reassembly of my mill.? If I tighten the 3 bolts (on a side) that hold the MI-41 plates that clamp the knee to the mill body when tightened, the knee will not?

Re: Cross Slide Handle
Given my latest post in response to animal's question, I probably will not try to fix it.
What I would have tried was figuring out a way to drill holes in each of the broken parts to insert a pin.?
