the mk1 has 40 template slots to work with, which can be linked either in toggle stacks as series, or by using buttons (or the pads, which i don't find useful) as links.

the key thing about these is the Remote Editor software, which is very comfortable to work with (i think). they'll run off USB with computer while you program them, and then off 9v PSU as standalone, away from the computer.
have never tried the mk3; it looks like a different thing altogether.

Actually, the Mark one, and the mark three both have a single LCD I believe…
The Mark II has the dual LCD…

I highly recommend the Remote SL Mark II, with the dual LCDs… they come in zero, 25, 36, 48, and (I think) 60 key versions. The 36-key version is a good balance of size, but these are all pretty big compared to Korg microKontrol or the nanocontrol, etc
Not a big fan of the newer single LCD version even though it has touch sensitive controls… The dual LCDs just make it alot easier to line up controls/settings on the right side.
But they are all great controllers, just personal preference.

I decided to return the nanokontrol...i think i'm just gonna get a small midi controller just for the qy100...something with 5 pin, knobs & faders built in...maybe a Novation ReMOTE SL or an Akai MPK225

I recall buying a mini kirg keyboard (nano ontrol maybe) and needinga pc in the middle toget it to work (since the keyboard was USB only)… The CME solution seems like a great idea and I wish it were around back then (sold the keyboard due to the need for ?a PC)… Seems like the CMEproduct does a ton more (and has presets too).
They make great products and their WIDI stuff is right up there (and compatible with some of) Yamaha’s midi-over-bluetooth offerings.
Nice that they are on Amazon as shipping used to be killer. ?Signup on their site to get an occasional discount or pre-order notification. ?
Not the cheapest, but solid quality, IMHO.

I use a powered USB hub to connect many devices to my computer. I run a long USB cable to another USB hub under my synth rack to connect those devices.
I use MIDI tracks in Cubase to configure MIDI coming from one device, like my USB MIDI controller keyboard, to another synth in my studio. The same ?by creating a MIDI track with "All Ins" and "All Channels" configured, and it will send MIDI from both your MIDI keyboard and the Nanokontrol to the QY100 if you configure it to do so.
I would recommend creating 2 MIDI tracks, and configuring each to route MIDI to the QY100 independently, that way you can control which MIDI channel of the QY100 each is routing signal to in the QY100.

so theoretically you'd need 2 doremi thingies, and then a Merge, into the QY100. USB hub into the Doremi probably wouldn't work. i suppose you've tried it. Jason's idea is interesting, because you might be able to MIDI merge within the DAW.

hi, just got a QY100, and am having fun!!? I set up my midi usb keyboard to a 5 pin DoreMidi hostbox...but i just got a Korg Nanocontrol 2...i want to control the sounds with my keyboard, and adjust cc parameters with the Nanocontrol....is this possible? can i use a usb splitter into the DoreMidi hostbox to connect both? or do i need something else?

So, In ANY song track, go to the "Edit" screen and the to the "Insert" screen. Change the "Note" parameter to "XG Exc Multi", then change "ElRsrv" to "RcvCh.". The first number is the Part and the second is the receive channel. Set the first number to "21" for C1 and increment the second number up until it says "OFF" (i think the value is 127). Of course you want to set the Measure:Beat:Clock to where you want the mute to occur.

Therefore, To MUTE C1 on measure 2, it should look like this:

1:000xRcvCh. 21 OFF
(Mutes Pattern part C1)
Conversely, To UNMUTE C1 back on in measure 3, just set Part 21 to listen to channel 21 again:

Be careful about setting the receive channel to match up with the Part number when you want to unmute it.

Slightly off-topic: ?I also made a rudimentary wireless MIDI controller using an arduino …I tried to make a wireless drumstick (of sorts) using an accelerometer board.. but I neglected to get one with a magnometer so it kept going eventually into gimbal lock, LOL….PLUS the wireless latentcy/delay was too high to make it useful. ? ?Anyway if you have any basic arduino questions regarding MIDI I might be able to provide some insight (but its been a while). ?BTW, Wireless midi on arduino will very likely have too much latency for your needs so wired is probably best way to go…although this might be better under Bluetooth 5.x and MIDI 2.0 ?

ok. still recommend getting hold of Eric's set of templates, and then open them up in the Novation RemoteSL Editor, and have a look at how Mute/Solo is dealt with - i can't remember if it's sysex or midiCC ... probably a sysex message, so you'd need something that sends sysex - in which case, the project you showed with the Arduino would be worth doing, if it's just a mute/solo box, but you'd have to study that video a bit, and how to code it - didn't look too difficult - and then you could make a? little DIY box. honestly if you're worried about a phone getting stolen, wouldn't you also worry about a QY70? anyway, those templates are the key to knowing what you can and can't access remotely. if you master the arduino thing, you might be able to do some cool things like edit effects sends, etc.
alternatively, you could just send midiCC 7/volume for each midi channel, and then you'd be able to look at lots more midi controller boxes.
