Don’t forget to give yourself a Display Names

Just an FYI:

Don’t forget to give yourself a Display Name/Handle.

Please keep in mind ?that (I think) if your display name is not setup, then your posts will probably use your email address instead.

This is not an issue per se, but I know that some people may prefer that their email address not be visible since this forum is viewable by the public (though not editable). Reason for this is to allow non-members to utilize this forum a resource without the need to immediately sign up.?

Cheers,
E.

although, I must say I don’t know how to stop the emails from showing up in the posts that are sent out to members via email

Welcome to the new home of the Yamaha QY70 / QY100 user group!

?Greetings QY users!,?

With the closing of the yahoo QY 70 user group in December, this will be the new home for all things QY70/QY100.

Just some FYI’s to keep in mind:

  • Eventually, all of the files of the section of the Yahoo group will be copied over to the file section of this user group.
  • We will also try to copy as many of the photos as possible, though we might cull them (to just the most useful) since they have to be moved manually.
  • At this point, it seems there may be no way to copy all of the old conversations/threads from the yahoo group, but we are still looking into it. ?

In the meantime, here are some links to the various sections of Yahoo group that you can for reference (until December):
Files:?
Photos:?
Attachments:?
Conversations:?

If possible, please add a link to this group in your Yahoo group signature (or include one in any new yahoo posts) so that other members ?will have every opportunity to find and join this new group before the December closing of the yahoo group. ? Thanks!

Cheers,
Eric!

Re: Welcome to the new home of the Yamaha QY70 / QY100 user group!

groups.io wont import the messages and files? or is it a matter of paying for the upgrade? If the latter, and if it's too painful to do in some other way, I'd be happy to contribute to keep the valuable info from the yahoo group.?

Thanks for setting this up!

Re: Welcome to the new home of the Yamaha QY70 / QY100 user group!

?Hi,

The files are not a problem, I’ve already uploaded a few and I will continue to upload the rest over the next month or so. ?BTW, 开云体育 allots 1GB of storage which is plenty considering yahoo only had about 100mb of files. ?Additionally, the files are not scheduled to be deleted at Yahoo until mid-december.
?
The problem with conversations is that (as far as I know) there is no way to export them (in bulk) from Yahoo besides scraping them or paying groups.io to import all of them which requires a $100 per year fee. ? Plus, I don’t even know if groups.io has any automated facility to extract them from Yahoo or if they leave that up to us... so paying may not even help anyway.?

?In any case, I don’t think all of the previous conversations are going to be that necessary if we have a decent number of members to address any questions people have....which I don’t think will be too much of a problem considering we already have over 20 members currently.?

Cheers,
Eric

Chord Track not reflecting chord progression in Song - QY100

Kind of a weird one -
The chord track (Cd) does not seem to be controlling the chord progression in a song.
There are only a few chords showing in the track, and yet the song indicates and follows many different changes.

Neither is the chord template set to any of the system templates (its set to 'usr')
Apart from something wrong with the data / loading of the song, trying to think if there is any other place that could be defining what's happening with the chord progression...

Interestingly, if I delete the Cd track it clears the progression. So there's definitely some linking going on between the Cd track and the progression.

Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks!

Just wondering - Are the chord changes visually appearing in the chord area of the song screen (under the ‘Usr’ box)? ?

If the chords are showing up but it doesn’t *sound*?like the right chord changes, then you might want to look at the phrase table of the accompaniment pattern. ?There are several fields in the phrase table that will affect how the chord changes are processed.

Of course, it is important to note that chord progression ONLY affects the (accompaniment) pattern tracks, not the song tracks. ?If you want the song tracks to follow the chord progression, you need to use the jobs menu to copy sections of the song into an empty (accompaniment) pattern. ?

Cheers!

Re: Chord Track not reflecting chord progression in Song - QY100

Yes, the chord changes are appearing visually and they sound like what ive been working with for a while. Just not reflected in the chord track (which admittedly i can't remember if I used to originally implement).

And yes, only affecting the accompaniment pattern. I haven't thought to look at the phrase table in the accompaniment pattern (not sure i knew that it existed). Though when I go in pattern mode, playing it alone does not replicate the chord changes.?

Will check out the phrase table and report back.

Thanks for the tip!

Smart Media Card Reader... Mac

Have two generic ones - and i believe this .
The IndMem literally feels like its going to break the card and it only goes in part of the way. Can't use that one without having a heart attack.

Neither are performing well on my Mac. Nothing shows up as being mounted, doesn't seem to recognize the data.

Any suggestions for something reliable? I've got the data backed up on my card, now i just need to back up the card!! ahhhhhh.

Thanks!

I use a Dazzle USB 2.0 multi-card reader, but unfortunately it does not have a model number on it.

Re: Smart Media Card Reader... Mac

Great, thank you. I have a PC and could use it for backing things up as well.?

Previously i think i was using the data filer to pull the loaded data from the QY but the card (and then backing it up) seems like a better workflow and can hold alot more.?

I'll give the dazzle a shot if these others don't materialize over the weekend. Will report back. Thanks!?

Sure, Always glad to help.

I noticed the eBay auction said that it was tested, but you might wanna check to see if they actually tested the smart media slot since most people don’t actually own any smart media anymore. ?

But I imagine if one slot works they all (probably) work.

Cheers!

Transposition from copied pattern

Occasionally ill copy a pattern from a preset to an unused track of a different kind, in order to make it editable.
Similarly, occasionally, i find that transposition has no effect on the new user pattern. It will render transposition in the edit view (i.e. I can see that it has transposed) but playback of that track within the user style is unaffected.

Any experience with this or knowledge as to what might be happening?

This is on the QY100.

Cheers!

Re: Chord Track not reflecting chord progression in Song - QY100

Never solved this and have to think it's a data corruption problem. I created a new song, called the same styles into it, and re-specified the chord changes. And it worked... All is well, though still a mystery, but so be it!

Re: Chord Track not reflecting chord progression in Song - QY100

is it possible that on the one song you’re copying to track 10??

Since that track is implicitly drums it might not apply any chord changes.

Re: Welcome to the new home of the Yamaha QY70 / QY100 user group!

Edited

Just wanted to post an update regarding the content of the Yahoo group’s QY70 forum:

?I got an email from Yahoo that allowed me to request that they archive all of the conversations files images etc, ?that I should be able to use to populate this new group.
?
I requested it about a week ago and Yahoo told me they will let me know when it’s ready via email, but so far I have not heard anything.
?
My guess is they are still perfecting the archival procedure as well as handling probably hundreds of requests to archive decades worth of data, so it may be a while.

I will post with updates as things progress. ? ?

One way or the other, I will make an effort to grab as much information from the old site as possible, but I will wait to see what Yahoo comes up with as I am sure there content extraction would be far more all-encompassing and would also save a great deal of time and effort versus doing it manually.?

Cheers!,
Eric?

?PS (In the meantime, don’t forget that you can use the links at the top of this message if you want to go to the original QY70 Yahoo groups’ various content sections).

Hi all,

It takes weeks for Yahoo to get the download together - I know because I did it a while ago. I run a number of lists so they prepare it all together.

Anyway, here are the collected messages, files and links for the qygroup until Nov 1st 2019 in a 66 Mb .zipfile.? Feel free to download it at;

Best regards
