hi, just got a QY100, and am having fun!! I set up my midi usb keyboard to a 5 pin DoreMidi hostbox...but i just got a Korg Nanocontrol 2...i want to control the sounds with my keyboard, and adjust cc parameters with the Nanocontrol....is this possible? can i use a usb splitter into the DoreMidi hostbox to connect both? or do i need something else?

Hi All, Steve here. Long time amateur and small time semi-pro musician. I play guitars, keys and some winds with varying success, and I also sometimes sing. I am trying to put together a set of backing tracks for a for a portable "busking" setup. The flexibility and power to weight ratio of the QY70 seems perfect for the job. I am looking for drums and bass only. This is important to give me the maximum scope for improvising over the top, whilst still giving me recognisable support of structure, rhythm and key. It is important to me that, in performance, I need to do as little as possible in order to setup and and kick off each song. Selecting a song number is mandatory, adjusting tempo or key is tolerable where necessary. Any more steps than these will swiftly become a burden. In terms of developing the songs themselves, I am still interested in maximum efficiency/minimum steps to achieve my goal, although I can handle some one time pain if necessary for best result. Therefore, it would suit me if I could make use of the Chord Template functionality, in the first instance and perhaps permanently. And it comes so close to satisfying my needs. The issue is the I cant mute or otherwise silence tracks C1-C4 (21-24) from song playback. It certainly looks as though it should, but those chords etc just persist. Am I missing or misunderstanding something here? If I absolutely need to insert a Sysex message, can somebody please point me towards some hand holding assistance that may have been previously given (anywhere). Any help is welcome. I'm over here in Australia, so time differences can delay responses. Patience is a virtue (I tell myself).

just a quick question because I dont want to get this wrong and have to deal with returns but should a TS or TRS? also how do you guys use the guitar amp with the QY? Can you add pedals? Anyone make any amazing sounds?

Hello - I'm looking to use the QY100's Bulk Dump utility to save song data to my computer, which is an old Apple PowerBook G3 (running OS 9.2.2). Since this mac and the QY are of a similar vintage, it should be a good option ... So I installed the QY 100 Data Filer software, and then added it as a setup within OMS (2.3.8). Also, when setting this up, I chose the 'Serial Port' option within the Data Filer's settings ... However, shortly after this, I realized the computer doesn't have a serial port (or a printer port). Instead, it happens to be the first PowerBook they introduced with USB ports, and when adding those Apple removed the serial port. So I found a USB to Serial adapter (Keyspan USA-28X) online that runs on OS 9.x, and am thinking this might do the trick. However, I'm not sure how OMS (and/or the Data Filer) will handle this scenario ... Will the QY100 be recognized by the PowerBook via the 'Serial Port' setting even though I'm actually using a USB port on the Mac to connect to the serial port on the QY100? I'm hoping this will work, but am hesitant to purchase the USB to Serial adapter until I have a little more confidence in this solution! Thanks for any advice, Jim

Hi everyone hope you are well. Last week was alot for me but im back trying to get the QY100 working with my midi controller :D just to summarize my problem, I have a Korg nanoKONTROL2 that I have plugged into my pc. I have the software for it installed and im running ableton as my DAW. Im just trying to be able to change the envelopes and parameters of the samples in the QY100 with the nanoKONTROL2... Sorry if this post is spam or bloat, I dont mean for it to be I just want this fixed and figured a new thread might simplify some issues... also if anyone has their QY100 plugged into a Scarlett solo do you ever get white noise in your mix? its really annoying. Might just be a cable though...

Hi I have a Novation Zero SL MKii controller mapping that I downloaded for the QY100 that does all this. Can’t find the link at the moment so you’ll have to find it yourself. But you could use that as a resource to copy the parameters you want. Parameter control is achieved using MIDI SYSEX commands. These are special messages that carry generic data. The format and command list is in the link below, found in the files section of this forum. You’ll have to learn a bit about sysex and your controllers capabilities. Have fun! it seems you have some basic questions about midi routing and so on. HELLO ALL!!! Let me first say thank you for this group and thanks for allowing me to join... So ive been experimenting with the QY100 for a few weeks now (im still struggling when it comes to learning it lol) and ive been able to get sound into my DAW but I was hoping I could edit the notes I play in grid mode but I cant get any sound, just the midi data... To be honest that isnt even the worst of my concerns because today while trying to map a midi controllers macros to edit parameters of the QY100 when I learned that since the controller is plugged into my computer via usb and that means that there would be no connection or signals between the controller and the QY100... Im hoping this can be fixed by daisy chaining some usb and midi cables to eachother and having the QY100 power the controller but im not sure and I dont want to pull that trigger until im sure... If anyone has been able to master the QY100 in something like Ableton PLEASE REACH OUT AND LET ME KNOW!!!! I love this thing so much but I just want it so be a little bit simpler... thank you all :D

i'm using a QY700, but i imagine the processes are related. i cannot find this information in the manual, and am having to manually set the patches in the synth for each song.

MIDI LFO V1.0 is live! Try it out: https://qy100.doffu.net/midi-lfo/ About: MIDI LFO can be used to apply an LFO to your Yamaha QY70 and QY100 tracks (or other MIDI capable devices). You can choose what type of waveform, rate, MIDI CC, and other parameters to control with the LFO. The web tool even listens for play messages from your device, allowing it to re-trigger/sync the wave every time you begin playing on the device. How to use: Connect your Yamaha QY70 or QY100 (or any MIDI device) to your computer. This can be done with a MIDI to USB connection. If your device is recognized you will see it show up as an option in the drop downs. If not, connect and refresh the page. Make selections for each drop down and the LFO waveform will appear on screen to provide a visual representation of the wave. If using “Pattern Mode” on your QY70 or QY100, navigate to the MIDI Utility screen and ensure MIDI CONTROL is set to In/Out, and PATT OUT is set to 1~8 or 9~16. The LFO will affect whichever instrument you currently have highlighted on your QY70 or QY100. The LFO will re-trigger for all waveform types (excluding the Sample & Hold waveform). This song was originally created by Konami Kukeiha Club and then sequenced into MIDI by The Jade Emporer (over at VGMusic.com).
