Patches for the DX7 II by sound source unlimited 7
Hello, I'm looking for the Sound Source Unlimited patches for the DX7 II by Manny Fernandez. They have been discontinued and I cannot find them ANYWHERE, not even ebay. Anyone that has them (or even the collection for the original DX7) please let me know, I've been looking everywhere... Thanks, Dimitris

Noise problem 3
Hi, I sold my DX7II and bought a DX7. This one has a digital noise on some patches. I think its depend on the algorithm. I never had such noise on my DX7II or not so loud. Is this a knowing problem on DX7 or is there something out of order?

another new interesting FM project: XFM
looks like 2019 is FM year: https://crimson-frog-3k8x.squarespace.com "XFM is a polyphonic, 32-voice, 6-operator FM synthesizer stereo module that you can build yourself.” its based on a cheap FPGA chip and clocks in at less than 100$. i exchange several emails with the (very friendly and responsive) developer, who told me, that he had an architecture similar to the tx816 in mind. since the hardware has already midi link built in, that should be very straigthforward. i suggested loopable envelopes and a pitch eg per operator and he replied that "the "inexpensive synth challenge" has been cleared”, he is working on a project with a more powerful FPGA board, which *could* host these things and other ideas too. definately on my watchlist! cheers hans

New in this group and question 4
Hello all, I am new in this group. I have a DX7II and recently bought a Wind controller. I found a lot of useful information here, for which I thank you. One question: I would love to find a copy of Sal Gallina’s book ‘Expressive FM Applications’. I found a number of references to it in this group (& YamahaDXfiles) and on the Yamaha Musicians forum, but all links to it seem to have evaporated. I did find Sal's patches and audio examples already, but I would like to read the explanations behind the programming, which are in the book. And a paper copy is currently nowhere available (and often not affordable). Does anyone have a suggestion for me how to get it? Vindor

MultiBank Cartridge for DX7II and DX7 MKI 5
I suspect there'd be no need to use high density controllers for this, as a maximum of 128 banks would be more than enough. But wouldn't this require some recoding of the firmware to make it possible to do this? Sent from my HAL 9000 in transit to Jupiter

Converter 2
I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered. I have been unable to find any communication about it. I have Japanese DX7 that uses 100 volts, and I thought there was discussion at one time that there was a converter available to allow it too safely use 110-120 volts here in the US. I know it will run on standard US current, but I want to safe without damage to the unit, thanks in advance! Can someone help me out here? Thanks!!! Regards, L. David Covino CFE ALHC

Digest Number 4273 3
I am trying to create a "super saw" sound like the Virus by adding multiple (8) detuned voices to a performance. There is a detune in performance but it only goes up to 12. I assume semitones. Certainly not giving me the beating I am looking for. Re charles: Boom operator?

Question: A Hybrid Cartridge? 2
An idea hit me, and I'm wondering if it's possible. The idea is a combination RAM/ROM cartridge -- the basic patches, performances, and other data is burned into the ROM so it's always there on hand. The RAM side is where the cartridge patches and anything else that's not a part of the basic ROM group, like other patches or performances or tunings, lives, along with the patches that program change 64-127 access. This would provide a backup of the basic configuration of the instrument, along with something more flexible for specific situations or needs. I'd be interested in one compatible with a DX7II or TX802, though there could well also be value for ones designed for the earlier cartridge format. Is this possible? Would it take new fabrication, or would it be possible to use existing cartridges to make this work? Sent from my HAL 9000 in transit to Jupiter

Yamaha synths to a good home...
If anyone lives near upstate New York I need to part with many of the items from my synth collection. I have TX16W samplers, TX81Z, TX7, TG33, DX7, DX7IIFD, SY85, SY77, SY22, SY55, and other items for Yamaha gear. I also have other synths from other manufacturers. Some are rack and some are keyboard versions. If anyone is interested please contact me directly. My job keeps me very busy and lately I have not been able to use any of my gear. I also do not have a lot of time for shipping items but I suppose arrangements could be made. I am not looking to get rich off any of this. I would rather help someone out. The same as the work I have done here in the group over the years. Narfman96 at yahoo
