I've heard the TX81Z is a great little box - but that you really have to delve into editing of sounds to get the best out of it.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated :)

Greetings; Unfortunately SoundDiver is not cheap...upwards of $150
depending on where you buy it. (There are OEM versions w/ many newer synths,
but they only work w/ that synth; an upgrade has to be purchased for
unlimited use).

Since my posting to the Egroup yesterday, I finally managed to get a
shareware FB-01 patch editor working, it's called FM-Edit.

It's old, and only works in DOS -- not from a DOS window, but actual DOS.
Also, the envelope for each operator is in strict numeric form (ie. not
graphic like SoundDiver or Midiquest), but once you get past that limitation
it's not too bad. It also comes w/ a number of utilities, like a ROM voice
fctory reset program, etc.

I found it via a Google search on FB01, but for the life of me I can't
recall the URL...the program is only 300kb, however, so if you want to try
it, I could send it to you as an Email attachment.

Regards
Glenn

Just out of curiosity - how much is SoundDiver?

As for freebies, I haven't found one yet (I have no need to really),
but I have a URL w/ lots of TZ81Z resources, so maybe you can find an
editor through this site (which also has many TX81Z presets):

I'll check it out ... many thanks!

dx7II FD manual

Re: TX81Z - Patch Editor?

Greetings; I won't actually get hold of the TX81Z I recently bought
for a few days yet, but I've done quite a bit of reading up on
it...SoundDiver (Emagic) is one librarian/editor that works for this
module...in fact SD comes with a pre-made adaptation for the TX81Z.

I already use SoundDiver to edit patches for the FB-01 (the module
which inspired me to pick up a TX81Z), and IME the FM parameters are
very easy to understand and control in SD's clever interface. A built-
in mini-sequencer and virtual patch bay makes it easy to test out
your creations as you go along.

As for freebies, I haven't found one yet (I have no need to really),
but I have a URL w/ lots of TZ81Z resources, so maybe you can find an
editor through this site (which also has many TX81Z presets):

Cheers
Glenn

Re: PC & Atari ST floppies

Hi!

Format a floppie on the PC . This way you can interchange data
between PC and ATARI ST!
Cool! I've also found out about a special program called
Hcopy 17.prg for Atari which formats DOS 720k disks! You can get it
here:

Yamaha DX7IID patches

Steven Clements

Hi folks. I bought some great patches when I used to have my atari 1040. The had some fantastic performances too. Unfortunately I've lost them... except I still have the floppies I purchased back then. Does anyone out there have an atari 140 ST and a PC? I was thinking if I do images of the floppies... you send them to your DX... then save the patches and performances in sysex I could then get these sounds back.

Anyone willing to try this? We could then give the patches to whomever as the company who made these is out of business now, so I'm certain they would not mind.

lemme know
Cheers
Steve
