I find MIDI-ox is the business - though it will only store SYSx dumps - there is no editor.

Thanks for sharing with me. I figure people would laugh at the simple old cassette days but I'm glad there's a way. I'm using a Boss BR1600 for recording. Very nice machine for the price. Takes a while to beat the learning curve though. Thanks again !!!

If you have a sound card with a game port then you can buy a game-port-to-MIDI cable, then in Jsynthlib select the "MPU401 Out" MIDI output port.? If not you will have to buy a USB-to-MIDI interface.

Maybe there are DX7 (etc) users who want to try this library?

You can use my latest update of DXconvert to convert the library to
DX7(II) compatible sysex files. DXconvert-1.1.3 could not yet read Greg's
library. Version 1.1.4 can be downloaded from the usual places:

Other (related) news:
DXconvert can now also read single DX21/TX81Z editvoice patches, not only
complete banks. I needed to implement this before I could read Greg's
library.

P.S: Nice collection Greg, thanks!

I actually fixed this. I had to manually change the Sens. values on some of the modules for the DX5 keyboard.

I definitely can recommend the supermax extension. It really changes the
DX7 into a new instrument, but keeps the good things.

Nevertheless, the price in this auction is very high. I bought mine from
a seller named "bigmanilow" for 79 Euros in 2009. He sold them on a
regular basis.

I am sure there must be something available out there? Or install STeem
and use my Atari program YSEDITOR PLUS. But YSEDITOR probably can't read
this JSynthlib patch collection.

The Jsynthlib collection of 4-op patches needs to be converted to standard
32-patches/bank sysex files so that it won't require JSynthlib to load
them. Personally I think JSynthlib is nice, but many people have trouble
installing and/or using it.

You will have to configure the Yamaha TX81Z driver as synth name "TX81z" then open the library tx81z_dx21.patchlib . Unfortunately this does take a long time to load, but I couldn't find another freeware Windows editor for 4-op FM.
