Hey Thor,
In the FS1R you can use the unvoiced operators with some adjustments
as voiced ones so wich make it 16 operators to work with (from your
paper). But i understand the limitations on that route. With the
inharmonicity you mean the effect of more detuned operators going up
the keyboard?
?Also it is possible to use software applications like DEXED ?
for further additional polishing the sound...
But the main focus is ofcourse to get the most of our beloved FS1R.
If you could make that happen al the FS1R users would be cheering
you from there rooftops.;)?
Also there are ofcourse other emulations like Rhodes and the like
wich could be tackled better...
Best wishes,
Hans van den Tillaart

OK Hans, I went and listened to Manny's first video on his
Piano patch... Holy Moly, Batman!? He's created eight entirely
different patches which are mixed together to get his single
Piano sound.? We don't have eight Parts in an FS1R, we only have
four.? It would take two FS1R's to implement his Montage Piano
patch.? Sorry.
All is not lost, though.? Manny is from the "add more and more
stuff until it sounds right" school of thought.? Most people are
this way, actually.? But wouldn't it be more efficient if you
targeted a Piano sound right out of the box?? I think so.? I'm
going to have to work on this myself, to see what I can come up
with.
He uses the term 'inharmonicity' wrong too, but that's ok.?
Only engineers and researchers actually know what it really
means.? But he should know better, I explained it in detail in
my paper on the VP1, which he read.? He made a lot of red-line
comments too, which I very carefully corrected.? He knows a lot
about the internal Yamaha VL1/VP1 politics which I could only
speculate on.? Anyway.

Hi Fred and Thor!
Yes i use the same application as Thor does wich is the best
for your FS1R!
Thor has also the best FM tutorial on the planet for
instrument emulation! Great work!
I wonder if Thor has already tried to make the best Piano
patch there is for the FS1R?
For the Montage and like there is a very good patch written
bij Manny Fernandez.
If we could translate that patch to FS1R then we would be
close...
You can find it here:
?
It would certainly
make my day if this patch could be translated for FS1R ;)
Greetings and good luck!

Hi Fred,
I use the free K-Take FS1R editor.? It works great!? There
are both PC and Mac versions.
I've spent a lot of time learning how to program the FS1R,
I've written an FM-Programming Guide which you can download
off my website.? It goes into the FS1R in the latter
chapters on FM-X and Formants.?
Best Regards,? Thor

As you know the FS1r is a very powerful Synth with a huge
amount of parameters
Are you using any editor and if so which one ?
thanks for your feedback
