FT847 RA0070300 SHEET Satellite label
Hello Group, I am new to this group. I am trying to track down a FT847 RA0070300 SHEET this is the Satelite label. I moved QTH some time ago and it came of in transit. It is only a cosmetic issue but would still like to find one. The Transceiver functions OK I have tried some local dealers in VK but no help. Can somebody please advise where I might find one.Regards Stuart Vk5ade |
Re: TX/RX same band in Satellite mode
开云体育To add to that, do not attempt to work the satellites until you can hear your own voice coming down from the satellite. ? Bill K2WH ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Joseph LaFerla

HI Andy
Needless to put it in SAT if on the same band, at most use VFO A and B and not SAT mode. ?

Re: RX-only HF mod?
Thanks guys, sounds like it might not be worth the trouble. The idea is to use a secondary receiver with the 3000, not instead of it. Why? Might be handy in contests, but mostly just because it’s possible ?
It will probably be easier and safer to just use a dedicated receiver for this.? |
Re: RX-only HF mod?
I tend to agree here, the FT 847? was never the best for HF, you could change all the pin diodes, you could also fit 10 to 15dB attenuator, this will help on RX, and also help when the Tx is on the 3000. Most TX/RX change over relays only have 12 to 15dB isolation. You cold also fit some back to back diodes on the RX path 73 Andrew Get |
Re: RX-only HF mod?
I believe that applying 5 volts to pin 8 of the tuner socket will inhibit TX. I am at a loss though to understand why you? would want to use the 847 for RX, when the 3000 is arguably better at RX on HF. Also, if the FT3000 is being used for TX, you will be overloading front of FT847, surely? Why? not just swap antenna feeds in to 847, and use that, with 3000 turned off? Seems much easier. ? Andy |
RX-only HF mod?
Hey all, just found this group. Maybe this is a stupid question but bear with me. Is there a way to get RX-only on HF (or disable TX on the the antenna port)? I don’t use HF much in my 847 and got the idea to maybe hook that antenna port up to the RX-out on my FTDX3000. But I don’t want to fry it by accidentally keying up my FT-847.
Is something like this viable? Or should I just buy another receiver like I was planning to do before I got this idea… thanks! John KB0GGS |
Re: FT847 160 and 80 MHz
That rather sounds like previous owner had a tuner with it, and could explain error signal. Radio was looking for something not there. Unfortunate you had loaded memories before resetting.? Good morning Andy, Denis and others. I have a bit the bullet and decided to copy my memories and manually re-write them. I reset the radio. Using menu, 35 as the manual suggests. And Not turning the radio on holding buttons as you would on other
radios. The outcome is it all works as it should now on 160m 80m and 4m.?
One thing I will say what I do remember is when I was setting the radio up, it was behaving a bit strange on some menus, but the radio is unfamiliar to me so I wasn’t sure and another thing I thought was strange was the tuner was displayed on the screen.
I didn’t know if it was permanent or whether it shouldn’t be there, but it turns out to have disappeared now, and things have gone right.?
Next step is to do some mods on it. Is there any suggestions?
All the best guys, hope this helps somebody from my experience.?

Re: FT847 160 and 80 MHz
I don't think it is possible to do a partial reset to retain memories. You can do a reset to delete memories, but retain settings, but not the other way around. Time to get out a pencil and paper and note down memories methinks. Andy On Fri, 14 Oct 2022 at 18:16, Jeff M0UHF <jeff.elliott45@...> wrote:

Hi Andy,
I haven’t done a reset yet, but I wanted to do a partial reset, but I’m not sure how to do that just yet as I want to keep the memories I have just put in manually. Thanks for your advice.
I did wonder if maybe if this was a Japanese or an American import and that’s why it didn’t transmit and went out of band error. that was my thoughts!!! Good shout on the TX out of band, but I did check every single setting and could not find anything
associated with anything like that. But you never know?

Re: FT847 160 and 80 MHz
Hi Jeff,? normally shows error when trying to tx out of band as you say.? Have you done a reset, that quite often cures things.? Power off, FAST and LOCK? held in, power on. See if that cures it. It may be set for duplex to an out of band tx frequency. Andy On Fri, 14 Oct 2022 at 18:01, Jeff M0UHF <jeff.elliott45@...> wrote:
