Matt, Must admit to using linux mint which is not fussy with cables! Win 10 and 11 need newer prolific chips. My new (2022) wouxun cable is good, and the one l made following Miklor instruction several years ago. Linux is less fussy. Rudi

That sounds like the issue I had with a cable with a Prolific (sp?) chip set.? I was actually able to get it to work some of the time, but not very often.
I bought a cable with an FTDI chp set in it, and it works every time.
