Re: FT-101ZD Rectifier B Board Orange Material Around Base of Radial-Lead Capacitors

I recapped that board and is dry adhesive. I just scraped it off and installed new capacitors.

I’m not worried about any vibration that might fatigue the leads of the caps.

There is an orange material filling the edge-space between the Rectifier B Board and the end of some cylindrical electrolytic capacitors. This occurs only on capacitors along the outside of the mounted-capacitor array, upward and sideward (front-back), of several electrolytic capacitors on the vertically mounted board. ?It looks to me like this orange material is meant to be there, as if it is perhaps a dielectric to prevent breakdown to anything grounded that gets close enough and to keep dust out of these crevices, as these capacitors are used in circuits that produce bias voltages. ?I’ve seen this material on more than one FT-101Z.

Looking in the Survival Guide and Yaesu - Musen Maintenance Manual, I see no mention of what this material is. ?Does anyone know with certainty what this material is doing there, or how it got there?

Thank you.
