Is anyone using a Protothrottle with the YD7001 ?
4
Hi One of our club members just received his Protothrottle. We are only using the LAN connection on the YD7001 to access it - the integrated WIFI on the YD7001 is turned off. We followed the instructions to set up the Protothrottle's wireless adapter config.txt file to use withrottle, configured the SSID and password for the router, and the IP address and port number of the WiThrottle server on the YD7001. We cannot get the wireless adapter for the Protothrottle to connect to our wireless network and hence to the YD7001. I cannot see the Protothrottle wireless adapter join our WIFI network (per the router monitoring software). Note, our WIFI network for the train room is not connected to the internet, if someone thinks this could be our problem. Thanks for any ideas Jay Lennox - Toronto

Unexpected servo movement with DR4024
9
Hello I am using DR4024s to control my points connected to a DR5000. The DR5000 is only controlling the points, locomotives and feedbacks are controlled by a Z21. The problem is when one specific (Heljan Class 52) locomotive travels over the points it causes the points to change (or sometimes the servos just twitch), often beyond the programmed positions. The DR5000 is not aware of the change so I suspect the problem lies in the DR 4024. The problem is repeated on another seperate part of the track linked to different DR4024 unit. The problem has not been observed on any of our insulated frog points or with any other locomotive. any suggestions appreciated. -- Dave, Portland

Build 68 is here ?
8
Hello dear YaMoRC friends, Build 68 is here ? Just in time for under the Christmas tree ? . Both installers now have build 68 inside. What has changed: 1. YD_Config-build-68 - Support for our booster YD7403 - The long-awaited update for the YD8116 ->> Each definition now has the option of ticking the so-called NoInit flag. (see picture) This leaves the MTB point machines alone at startup. ->> Each definition can now have a "default aspect". This is then the aspect that is "started" during initialisation. ->> The operating voltage may now be from 9VDC instead of 12VDC. This makes it possible to use low-voltage power supplies, e.g. to connect Z-gauge items, or to operate LED lighting with less heat loss (in the ballast resistors) - YD8044 and YD8008 --> Operating voltage now less critical with 12VDC supply. - YD6016LN-xxx --> The "Input actions" have been expanded with: ---| PowerOn ( track voltage on ) ---| PowerOff ( track voltage off or emergency off ) ---| Emergency ( track power on and locomotives on emergency stop ) - YD6016ES-xxx --> No changes - YD9100 --> No changes 2. YD_7001-build-68: (YD7001 V8.2.5) - Support for the YD7001-E command station --> Track and input voltage measurement. - Full implementation of the ES-Link protocol on the ext88N socket --> Connected YD6016ES can now be configured directly with the YD7001 - New slot management for WiThrottle applications, among others. --> Slots can now be "Dispatched", set to "Idle" or "Purged" with the slot management. Both of the latter release slots that are no longer needed or were inadvertently reserved. This can eliminate the notorious "No Slot" in LocoNet applications. And finally YD9401 (V1.1.7) - Number of WiFi clients increased from 4 to 10 - WiThrottle implementation of Release/Dispatch/Purge revised. - WiThrottle missing functionality implemented like: --> Power On/Off --> Reports from server to client in case of e.g. a short circuit. The instructions will be updated accordingly in the coming days. Quite a lot all together. A few general words about the update procedure: 1. always disconnect modules from input voltage, DCC signal, LocoNet, ExpressNet etc. 2. if possible, connect directly and alone to a YD9100. (or of course via your own USB) 3. use a USB isolator where possible if several USB devices are connected from the layout to the PC 4. before starting the update, always create a backup copy via "Export". 5. switch off and restart the modules after the update has finished (green bar has disappeared) 6. check old settings and re-import the export if necessary. I wish you every success and lots of fun with these new features. If something should not work, please let me know here or in the customer group on Facebook! With best wishes for Christmas, Karst ne|fullsize]]

DR4088 GND Feedback Wiring Clarification
4
I have purchased some of these for sensor feedback (it's a two rail DCC layout) but just wanted to confirm my understanding of this diagram. In this example. Are left side connections just a switched loop from the left common (i.e. no external power source)? The right side common is from 'Track Out Central'. I assume Track Out Central is the DR5000 track output? The right side inputs include a reed switch. I assume this means any switch can be used in such a configuration? I notice the right side has connections to the track, is this current detection? If so can the unit be used for current detection in 2 rail DCC at all?

DR-5013 set-up and Rocrail
15
I'm using the DR5013 short detection capabilities to manage a "simple" reverse loop . Following the manual's instructions I didn't modify any of the factory settings (no value assigned to S0-S3 or T). All works fine when I run trains manually via the DR5000. But when I run them in auto-mode with Rocrail , the brief (ms) short generated when the train goes over the reversing tracks, is enough to be sensed by Rocrail that cuts power to the tracks instantly. Are there any changes in the set-up of the DR5013 I can make to stop this from happening?

DR5013: How to force a reinstall of the firmware ?
8
I'm having trouble getting my DR5013 out of DEMO mode. I tried with 3 different USB cables Even with the DR5013 connected to nothing else than the PC the COM port shows correctly on the device manager as " DR5013 reversloop controller on DR Command" but cannot get out of DEMO mode. I was considering starting with a "clean slate" by forcing a re-installation of the firmware V1.1.0 Is there a way to do this?

Difficulty acquiring locomotives with a Duplex throttle
16
I have a DR5000 (now a YD7001) connected to a LocoNet with a UR93 on it. I can run locomotives fine with either the DT602D or the UT6D throttles. However I can't seem to acquire the locomotives unless I plug them into the LocoNet directly. Has anyone else encountered this issue and is there something wrong in my setup? Scott Walton

Unable to operate a flashing LED with DR4018
9
Hi I am using a DR 4018 to control signal lights, as these are common cathode I am using the Digikeijs adaptor (don't remember the code). All signals work correctly. I have a level crossing and have fitted two very tiny LED's to the mast heads. The power for the LED's comes from a Green light contact from one signal. The LED's I am using are flashing type, they work perfectly from a battery but not from the adaptor. Replacing the flashing LED's with a standard LED works as expected. Including the signal light the DR4018 is operating 5 LED's from one terminal. Each LED flashes independently, measuring the current from a battery is difficult as there is a random fluctuation of power. Is there any reason the DR4018 / adaptor combination cannot operate flashing LED's? Robin

Issues with DR5033s with upgraded DR5000 w/YD9401 module
14
I have upgraded my DR5000 with the YD9401 module and followed all instructions as posted in this group and the the instruction found on the YaMorCo website. I have 2 issues at present. 1. The YD7001 is shutoff train power randomly and when this happens it will also loose any consists I have created. 2. I have 4 DR5033s installed for power districts and now when a loco crosses between 2 power districts it throws a short. I never had this problem prior to upgrading with the YD9401 module. I upgraded from a Digitrax DCS240 with a UR92 to the DR5000. I am still using the UR92 as it has been working without any issues. I am using a variable power supply set at 18v/4amps. Not sure what information is needed to get some advise, so let me know what I need to provide and I will update this tread. Update: I am powering the YD7001 and the 4 DR5033 from the same power supply, not sure if that make a difference. Also, on restarting the system the power supply voltage reading drops from 18v to 8v, not sure why that is happening either. Thanks, Jim

DR5033 with Lenz DCC
7
Hi folks. My first post. I have a Lenz LVZ100/LH100 (v3.6) system running my HO scale layout. It is configured to have three power districts. The Lenz LVZ100 is supplying the power to the middle power district. The other two districts (which are reverse loops by the way) are powered by Digikejis DR5033s. The middle district and one reverse loop have been in place for a year now and have been working fine. I recently completed the second reverse loop and added the second DR5033. Wiring is per Section 4.8 of the DR5033 manual. Here is where the question comes in. Does the second DR5033 new a different module address than the first one? I believe the answer is yes. Then, I believe I am stuck because everything I've read here and Lenz group does not provide any process (that I've found) to program the DR5033 with the Lenz Express Net. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -- Mike L

Purging locos YD7001
7
Is there a setting on the YD7001 to purge stationary locomotives. The Z21 enables purging where no new commands have been issued for a number of minutes, the setting has various minute intervals that can be applied. Also is there a way to reduce the number of times an update is sent to each loco or how often a refresh of the commands is sent. I notice that some systems send updates for all locos almost constantly, whereas other systems have a much slower refresh rate. Background: I have a YD7001 which is used with my Dead rail garden layout, sending commands over WiFi to the battery powered locomotives. The system I use for the WiFi control is WiFiTrax. Now, the issue I am having is that when we have had a number of locos running the amount of commands coming from the YD7001 starts to overwhelm the WiFi and I start getting delays in response from the locos and eventually some locos become unresponsive. This happens after about an hours running. If I restart the YD7001 everything goes back to normal running. Using a DCC sniffer, I can see commands are still being issued for locos that have been stopped and turned off (battery power off). So I am trying to reduce WiFi traffic, by stopping commands being sent for locos that are no longer operating. Cheers Brian

Programming #YD8116 with #DR5000 via CVs - "old way"
#DR5000
#YD8116
Hi, Ah... you seem to be a bit impatient... Posting a ticket last night ;) Signing with your name is also considered polite around here. Your question: No you cannot. Our decoders do not have CV's anymore, not a single one. You need our YD9100 USB stick, or, from the next release on an YD7001 ( DR5000 with YD9401 update ) and configure the module by PC-Software. But.... The default of the YD8116 *IS* (!!) default set for 8x Red-Green Signals... So trying to read the manual would be very benificial. Greets, Karst P.S. Why do you assume that you can "program" our decoders with the same commands in the same way as a 14 year old DR4018 ??

DR5000 protocol dropdown disabled in LAN settings
#DR5000
Hi all, I'm coming back to modelling after a long while and dusting off my DR5000 (v1.5.5 firmware & app). I have connected to it fine with the app (using a Windows 10 VM on Linux), and can e.g. drive locos on on the track with its built-in throttle, update LAN and wifi settings fine, etc, etc. But I can't change the LAN protocol so as to be able to connect to it using JMRI. As you can see from the screenshot below, the dropdown is disabled, and I can't figure out how to re-enable it. Any suggestions? Thanks! Mike

DR5013 slow response
13
Hi, My DR5013 is wired to a generic turntable so is factory default wiring. The issue is that it shorts when a loco leaves after being turned. However powering up several times eventually switches the polarity and clears the fault, loco drives off ok without any other intervention. Why is the DR5013 slow to switch. It happens with different locos so it not loco related. The turntable is a peco with a DCC automation control system (arduino nano controling a stepper motor). All my other DCC modules are also Digikeijs. Any advice greatfully received.

Downgrade Procedure

I would like to downgrade my YD7001 back to a DR5000. Is this as simple as reversing the module swap or do I need to do something else? - Bob Gamble

S88N connected modules, should the status lights flash
3
All these conversations about LN and S88N modules has me concerned that all the wiring prep might not actually work once I power everything on. So here is my current question. I have two Digikeijs LN modules plugged into a 5097. Out of one LN module I have 3 S88N YaMoRC devices. Out of the other I have 2 S88N Digikeijs devices. When power to the command station is turned on, the status lights on the LN modules and the YaMoRC modules flash as if they are getting data. But there isn’t any flash from the Digikeijs S88N modules. I tried some cross plugging of network cables, but I could never get the Digikeijs S88N status lights to flash (except for a blip if I would plug on the data cable with power on) Do I have an issue with my Digikeijs S88N modules or does the status light not continuously flash like the LN or YaMoRC modules. (If they are supposed to be flashing, any idea why they might not be?) Thanks -- Heath @ Human[c]ity http://www.humancity.org http://www.riversidetransfer.nyc

Feedback Sensors
8
Am I correct in assuming that the YD6016LN GND modules get their power from the LocoNET T cable? If so, then how many modules can I daisy chain from the YD7001? I envisage using a mixture of CS, GND, and eventually RC modules probably over a dozen in total. What is the best way to connect all these modules back to the YD7001 via LocoNET? Or should I be looking at using the ES module to daisy chain?

YD6016LN and ESU LNet Converter
4
I have successfully used the Digikeijs DR4088LN-CS with the ESU LNet Converter for block feedback. I have tried to connect the YaMoRC YD6016LN to a LNET Converter without success. Does anyone have experience of this configuration? Is it known not to work? Thank you Chris James
