Re: DR4088LN-CS with DR4088CS some of my sensed blocks activate with just a touch of the sensed wire
I started another thread for the double tap wheel gap activation issue. It was solved by changing the default sensor delay in JMRI. As far as I know you cannot change any detection setting related to this issue in the YD7001 or the DR4088's.
?
The single rail activation does not seem to be causing any issues with the train detection its just weird.

Thank you for your response. As you indicated there is no where that I have found to add a delay to prevent these nuisance detections.?
I am using JMRI so I went to the sensor table/defaults/global setting and set the on/off delays to 200ms for all of my sensors. ?
This is working quite nicely and the panel display has a nice smooth look to it as the train moves from block to block.
I could have gone faster but I did not care for the look.

Re: DR4088LN-CS with DR4088CS trailing blocks turn on and off when metal wheels pass over insulated jointer
开云体育In software other than JMRI (or feedbacks other than DR4088xx) this ‘bouncing’ can be cured by increasing the feedback switch-on delay slightly, from 0ms to 25ms, or even 50ms. This creates enough time for the wheel to bridge the gap and move on before showing occupancy. ? There may be a similar setting in JMRI that you can change because if memory serves correctly the DR4088xx doesn’t have any LN CVs that you could use to increase this switch on delay. ? Re: YD8008 with YD6940 and Kato Unitrack turnouts
Karst
?
Thanks for this advice I'll upgrade my PSU.
?
Before reading your post I'd actually come to a similar conclusion that it was a power supply issue. I was originally powering two YD8116s together with the three YD8008 from the 12 volt power supply. I moved one of YD8116s (which was controlling relays) to another supply and everything worked as it should do with no missed turnout switching. I was even able to reduce the pulse times down to the defaults of 30ms.

I'm using a 12 volt dc 3 amp power supply. There lies your problem, our experience is, that the Kato's connected to the YD8008/6940 combo need 15V PSU of about 400mA minimum. Reason: Both YD8008 (1.2V) and YD6940 (0.7) introduce a voltage drop. So effectively your Kato's only receive 10.1 Volts. That's not enough. On Wed, Jan 29, 2025 at 08:39 AM, Iain Morrison wrote:

Re: DR4088LN-CS with DR4088CS some of my sensed blocks activate with just a touch of the sensed wire
I discovered tonight a wiring booboo. When I switched to tortoise switch machines I powered some of the frogs with straight booster power. So when the engine goes over the frog the power is not sensed by the DR4088.
?
That is causing some of my double tap CS low /high activity.
?
I do not think it is causing the single rail sensing though.?
?
Tomorrow I will pull all of the tortoise plugs and see what happens.

Re: YD8008 with YD6940 and Kato Unitrack turnouts
Iain
?
I took my advice from the YaMoRC website.? It clearly states that for Kato points you need to use the YD8008 with the YD6940 to convert to 2 wire from 3 wire.? I had originally thought about the YD8116 but the website says that it's not suitable for solenoids. Although the Kato is a solenoid I agree is nothing like the heavy duty ones you refer to.

Re: YD8008 with YD6940 and Kato Unitrack turnouts
开云体育Graham, ? I wonder if the YD8008 are the correct switches to be using with Kato turnouts. The common use for the YD8008 is power hungry solenoids such as the Peco/Seep style that need a real thump of current to move. The Kato items I have dealt with work reliably with a much lower power requirement. ? With the YD8008 being a CDU there can be a delay in the capacitors charging up (time varies on the power supply) and this may be why you are having challenges. Personally, I would have thought that the YD8116 would work perfectly for your turnouts. ? Iain Morrison ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of grahammjmason via groups.io

DR4088LN-CS with DR4088CS some of my sensed blocks activate with just a touch of the sensed wire
I have just discovered after adding additional blocks that some of the track when just the sensed rail is touched with my finger it will activate the sensor and generate the message of an active block.
?
What I discovered is when metal wheels on the cars cross the insulated jointer between what is the active block where the engine is and the block no longer occupied by the engine.
The previous block would activate because of the metal wheel on the car.?
?
Has anyone seen this before the single rail activation and is there a solution??
?
I insulate both rails between blocks and run the pair of feeder wires back to the DR4088 for sense and a collocated terminal block for the non-sensed wire.
My main bus is 14 gauge and my drops are 20 gauge. Drops are a few inches to maybe max of 4 feet.
DCC voltage measured with a RRAmpmeter is 14.2 volts on one booster and 14.4 on the other . This is for ho.
?
Thanks for your help.
