YD8008 with YD6940 and Kato Unitrack turnouts

I'm having problems with the reliability when using this combination with iTrain. They occur mostly in automatic mode but do also? when manually operating individual turnouts or when using the track route button in iTrain.
?
The issues mostly occur with the double crossover (KTO20210) where occasionally it fails to operate.? I'm using two of these and the same problem occurs with both. The pulse time in the YD8008 is set to 300ms for the ordinary turnouts and 650ms for the double crossovers.? I've increased the pulse times gradually in an effort to improve the situation.? Most ordinary turnouts work okay.? I'm currently using three YD8008s all with YD6940s.? I'm using a 12 volt dc 3 amp power supply.
?
Is there a recommended pulse time for Kato Unitrack turnouts in order to get the optimum from the switching process?
?
I'm using the default settings in iTrain of 250ms for the activation time.
?
In simulation mode and in live mode iTrain behaves as expected ie all turnouts operate on the switchboard.? So I can see when routes are set that the turnouts have changed on the switchboard but have not moved on the physical layout.? Also the problems seem to occur some way into an operating session, so they are nearly always okay for the first few train movements.
?
Would appreciate some advice from someone who may have a similar setup.
?
Thanks

Graham

DR4088LN-CS with DR4088CS some of my sensed blocks activate with just a touch of the sensed wire

I have just discovered after adding additional blocks that some of the track when just the sensed rail is touched with my finger it will activate the sensor and generate the message of an active block.
?
What I discovered is when metal wheels on the cars cross the insulated jointer between what is the active block where the engine is and the block no longer occupied by the engine.
The previous block would activate because of the metal wheel on the car.?
?
Has anyone seen this before the single rail activation and is there a solution??
?
I insulate both rails between blocks and run the pair of feeder wires back to the DR4088 for sense and a collocated terminal block for the non-sensed wire.
My main bus is 14 gauge and my drops are 20 gauge. Drops are a few inches to maybe max of 4 feet.
DCC voltage measured with a RRAmpmeter is 14.2 volts on one booster and 14.4 on the other . This is for ho.
?
Thanks for your help.

well well well
looks like i have the same problem with the adsx2 loosing addresses

if I use a sprogg3 the problem disapears

Using YD7001 with a DR4088CS or YD6016ES

I have a small iTrain test bench layout controlled by a YD7001. To control my Blocks I have been using either a DR4088CS or YD6016ES connected directly to the EXTN88 IN port of the YD7001. Whilst this is working OK. I note that each time I power up all the blocks show up as being occupied. I found that by unplugging the RJ45 cable in and out clears the occupation. Can this be avoided or can I presume this is not the correct solution!.

Re: YD8116 programming

Pete

The number is, as you guessed, used with DCCExt. This allows you to use a single address to make complex signalling done because the decoder does the work rather than you creating a (sometimes) complex matrix in iTrain get all the aspects correct and the changing of the aspects.

A three aspect signal with a feather would need four addresses in a 4x4 matrix to operate traditionally, whereas with aspects it could be one address for by an aspect number.

Be aware that not all command stations can operate DCCExt.

Many Thanks

Well I dived in and bought 7 x YD8116, and the USB to ES link (FTDI) adaptor, and I've had one on the bench and been playing. Thanks goodness for DCC concepts (and others I'm sure) putting instructional videos up on Youtube. The manual for these things is as good as useless. It doesn't even tell you about the link adaptor or the fact that you can program it with only the USB connection. No external power needed untill you want to run something.
?
If I was running points (switches in American) with it then I would indeed, as Iain says, need two outputs per point, and I would have 8 set of points controlled. The default button press to set addresses supports this well by creating 8 consecutive addresses for the points.
?
As I will be using these modules for signals, the suggestion by Oldngrey about the adaptor sorted the comms issue. I am talking to the module via the USB adaptor and the Yamorc configuration software. This means I can set any address to any output, use preset signal configurations, and so on. Sometimes the interface is a bit clunky, and I even managed to crash it when it got grumpy about USB port assignments....... I couldn't get it to respond nicely until I did a restart on my Windows 10 PC. It also sits there with the little blue swirly circle for far to long on start up, but it eventually gets there.
?
I really like the ability to be able to set a custom or simple output. This means I can map an out to an input, set fade, etc, for all 16 channels as needed. Which was the crux of my original question. So with a simple on-off output, set to fade as it switches, I can assign the addresses for a 3 aspect UK signal completely out of normal sequence, and even across multiple YD8116's, enabling me to use the spare outputs that are left over. After all, it's just a data bus with many outputs! So if my understanding is correct, you could run for example, 5 x 3 aspect signals, leaving one output spare, then that output could then be combined with another 2 outputs from another YD8116 to run another 3 aspect signal. All I do is tell iTrain what the addresses are for each aspect and it should just do it. To iTrain it is just another address and so it doesn't matter where it is physically.
?
I do have one more question though (only one.... yeah right....) and that is the column in Device Properties showing the aspect number. These can be changed only in the custom setting, and I'm really not sure what they do. Is it something to do with DCC EX?
?
Best

Digitrax DS51K1 switch decoder not working with YD7010

Hi,
?
We are migrating from the DR5000 to the YD7010. ?We have previously controlled switch decoders with the Z21 app on iPad. ?

The DS51K1 decoder does not respond when connected to the YD7010. ?We can turn track power off and on and control locomotives through the Z21 app. ?However, it will not throw the Kato turnouts that we have connected to a DS51K1. ?

We have also connected the YD7010 to a computer running JMRI via USB, and the Turnout Control in JMRI will not operate the turnout either. ?It also cannot be operated via the Switchboard in the YD7010 Configuration App on the computer.
?
After working on it for several hours, we pulled out our old DR5000 to test if it would work the switch. ?It worked perfectly with the Z21 app. ?We checked configuration settings for both, but could see no major differences.
?
Any ideas?
?
Thanks,
?

YD7403 Question

Hi,
I have several YD7403 Boosters on the lower deck of my layout. I will have 2 parallel tracks going up to the upper deck via a helix. The tracks come from different parts of the layout and there are 3 x YD7403 Boosters on the lower deck each with its own YD6016LN-CS.
So my question is, can I have a single YD7403 feeding both tracks on the helix? If the answer is YES then the helix will be two separate blocks fed by a single YD7403 and YD6016LN-CS. There is no crossover between the parallel tracks.
?
If that's too ambiguous, imaging a large loop coming together in a parallel track. Can I use a single YD7403 Booster on the parallel tracks even though these tracks are connected to the loop and several different YD7403 Boosters?
?

OnG.

In theory, I think this could work. I doubt that specific combination of devices has been tested before. It may "just work", provided all the devices are configured appropriately. I see you have started a conversation on the LCC group. I think that is the best place to continue the investigation. Here is a direct link for those wanting to follow along:

You name just came up on my discord () . We were discussing in throttle consisting versus when the cosist get's sent to the command station so I could grab it with a ProtoThrottle.

Heath,

I would suggest posting this question on the LCC users group. You might get some better suggestions over there. There might be someone who already has, or is willing to help with building, an LCC/S88N bridge. S88N is not that complicated, in theory.

How to control S88N devices with a TCS CS-105

I am at the point in my model railroading journey that I want to get away from Digitrax consisting and move to an NCE style system. This means that the upgrade choice would be the TCS CS-105.
?
On my YD7001, I am using LocoNet T, LocoNet B, ExpressNet and S88N.
The ExpressNet is what controls the ProtoThrottle, so I can switch to cab bus on the CS-105
The LocoNet T can use the LCC to LocoNet adapter
The LocoNet B, I am not sure what is out there for this, but I think there is a board from TCS that let's you use Digitrax boosters.
?
Where I am stuck, is how do I control the S88N devices?
?
I have 1 S88N device wired directly to the YD7001 and the rest are connected on the output of a LN module. Will S88N devices still work on a LocoNet bus that is not from the YD7001? Can I use the LCC to LocoNet adapter and have the S88N devices connected on the end of the bus and will they still work?
?
I know that I could leave the YD7001 on my layout for a layout control bus and have the CS-105 dirve the DCC bus, but if I could reliably get everything S88N working over a LCC to LocoNet LCC adapter, then I would prefer that.
?
Thanks

Re: Unable to connect to YD7001

Perhaps go into the admin of the router and assign the YD7001 a static IP address - the same one that originally worked with the YD7001….
i have windows 11 desktop and i use static IPs because i feel software these days always seems to think it knows what i want?

Now working fine.

Install something like to remove the programs and clear out the registry keys (which it will be display for you) after it has been uninstalled and reboot.
