Yes we had a few flying here, there is details of the
conversion on my Xairireland website
?
There was mixed views to how good it was, I would say it
is not for the non technically minded, suits?an engine man and someone who
likes working at engines.

开云体育Hi You could really help a lot of owners out there, do you know or can you find out the current status of the Raj Hamsa company in Bangalore and if the aircraft are still being made? Re: X-Air-F 503
I live in India, and till a couple of years ago, used to fly on two X-Air with Jabiru 2200. I didn't have any issues with the engine, but others had had atleast one each of engine out landings on both of them. In one instance, the aircraft was overhead, so could recover on the airfield comfortably. In the other instance, it happened during the climbout after take off, and the aircraft had to be put down in a field adjacent to the airport.? No damages to the airplane or pilots in either of the case.? P?Save a Tree. Please consider the environment before printing this email

开云体育What does everybody think about a 582 at 5000 ft elevation and an average temperature of 75 degrees. I am talking about an X-air Standard. Thanks. ? On Jan 5, 2015, at 20:06, Scott Soper and Teresa O'Kane fosterkane@... [X-Air_Ultralight_Aircraft] <X-Air_Ultralight_Aircraft@...> wrote:

Re: X-Air-F 503
I have seen a variety of engines put on them overseas. See this response to an earlier thread - ? Looks great, nice to see it restored. All you need now is a 912 engine, then it will leap in the air like an excited puppy :o) ? I love my 912 X air F ... ?or Falcon as we call them in the UK. I think the 912 might be a bit of overkill but it obviously still stays within the COG. That is a bit of weight you are adding to the airframe on the nose.....ie 65kg vs 48kg for a 582+gearbox???? |
Re: X-Air Ultralight Aircraft X-Air-F 503
If I was to look for a higher HP rated engine is there a max weight that can be installed in place of the 582 ,not sure how much the Jabiru comes it at complete? or even the Bmw conversion?. I know the Weight and Balance has to be correct but am just wondering what has been tried .Thank for the input.

Re: X-Air Ultralight Aircraft X-Air-F 503
I am flying an X-Air F in tropical north Queensland, Australia with a brand new Rotax582 (65HP). In these hot humid conditions, the 582 is Ok with one up but certainly struggles a lot more with 2 POB and a full load. They are much heavier and feel a lot more solid in the air than the Standard, and it really doesn't like airspeeds below 50kts. Mine weighed in at 303kg empty but that includes a 16kg recovery chute, 2mm?polycarb screen and doors. A friend is flying the same F model in cooler climates, with a 618(75HP) using the same gearbox/prop combo, but without doors (at this time). Currently his performance and fuel burn appears similar but I expect that to change once the drag is reduced with the doors.

Re: X-Air Ultralight Aircraft X-Air-F 503
With that said are you saying the 582 at 65hp is not enough as well, I was judging the X-Air with the flightstar that flies pretty good with a 503 ,I understand they are different but they do have a lot in common. The engine set up I was going to use was off my Flightstar but if there will be a problem I better rethink it,I do have a mod 99 582 that I could use. Any thoughts are appreciated?.Thanks?

Re: X-Air Ultralight Aircraft X-Air-F 503
开云体育The 503 is not
enough power for a large 2 seat aircraft like
the X-Air and never on the "F" model which needs about 75 plus HP to fly properly. Thanks
