Re: What hardware is needed for RTTY/data with X5105?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes You cab set it up as a IC-7000 and it works no problem. You will need the CE19 interface which comes with the necessary leads. ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of DougVL

Re: X5105 Switch on Problem
Try loading an earlier firm wear version.? Make sure you're following the instructions for the version of the firm wear you're installing.? I don't recall all the issues I had, but I think I acquired the instructions from one site & the actual firm wear from another.? When I followed the first instructions, the radio appeared 'dead' & I thought I'd killed the radio.? I re-read & compared the instructions, followed the instructions with the second download & was successful.? I've not attempted any more recent updates.? YMMV, of course.? Good luck!? 73, Dan

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi JamesYes I have heard that some users have tried 10 or more times with apparent successful upload each time before success. I have tried this with no luck so far. On 22 Jul 2022, at 13:46, James Beckett <jmb.groups.io@...> wrote:

Re: X5105 Switch on Problem
Could this be another "failed firmware flash" case (initially by the previous owner)? Other posters here have advised that the flashing process can be very sensitive to both the Serial-TTL interface and the xmodem software used, flashing often produces no error but has failed in some opaque way and continues not to boot.

Re: X5105 Switch on Problem
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi JPThanks for the reply. Was not working when I got it. I suspect that although I was able to update the firmware, the battery was too low to turn on.However having now recharged it directly, I cannot access the boot loader at all .:-/ I will check the brass posts to see if there are any issues there. 73 Steve On 21 Jul 2022, at 21:47, JP McGinley <j.p.mcg@...> wrote:

X5105 Switch on Problem
Hello All,
I recently acquired a used X5105., and so far have been unable to switch on and access any functions. -It will not switch on , no normal power up with or without external DC supply. -No response to hold Menu and On button. - I have been able to access the firmware update XG Bootloader mode by pressing both up/down buttons and on button, and seems I have successfully uploaded latest 3.0 firmware. However once loaded it does not go back to charge/standby mode as expected. This is the only action where I have seen the screen light up. Strangely accessing the bootloader is only possible with the internal battery, and does not work when an external dc supply is connected? I have checked the battery charge level directly all seems OK. So any suggestions about a possible remedy would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance! 73 Steve W8SAW/G4DFN |
CW
I want to use N1MM logging/contesting programme F keys to send CW.? I have a bespoke interface which connects the rig to a computer through the data port and the CAT socket, and it reads the radio perfectly.? It goes to TX and then to RX, but there is no output. I have tried a work-around (which works on the KW3) using KY codes, but the 5105 will not accept these or direct logging programme CW inputs.? Is there any way to get it to work, or will I have to use a WinKey-type interface as well--which will be a nuisance with more equipment to take into the field. Ed--GM0WED

19200 8-1-none VOX Default sound settings Im using a XGG.COMMS Interface with no supporting program, just WSJT-X Version 2.1.1 IIRC. No issues at all. Rig control works fine. Rick

Re: What hardware is needed for RTTY/data with X5105?
Hmmm!? The manual doesn't say.? I set my PC to 19,200 bps, 8n1 - if I remember right.
And the X5105 uses Icom's CI-V serial communication protocol.? Setting the rig as an IC-7100 works (for many people).? I don't remember why, but as you'll see, I had mine set to use OmniRig, which I set for X5105. I'll attach a screenshot. Using CI-V for other uses, like memory or channel management, though, does NOT work with the X5105. -------- Doug, K8RFT |
Re: What hardware is needed for RTTY/data with X5105?
I have also run a USB sound card dongle but I have to run a TRRS cable from that to a now unavailable interface & homebrew connector to the non-Yaesu standard Xiegu data jack. Works fine on FT8. Haven¡¯t messed with RTTY in decades. Just doesn¡¯t feel right, not running it thru a KW7, ¡®though I¡¯m sure one of Putin¡¯s minions in N. Korea could find me a working model ;-).? In truth, the USB dongle & accouterments has been superseded by the IC-705¡¯s little USB connector & wifi/Bl?T?nd capabilities. Nils / W8IJN? |

can you share a picture of your preferances on the software. did you need to download any special drivers?

Re: What hardware is needed for RTTY/data with X5105?
I never pursued using data with this rig, but now I am ready to try as I have just started playing around with FT8 on my Yaesue FT991A. I use a Mac and the data software I'm using is WSJT-x.?
so I attempted to connect my X-5105 to the Mac and run the WSJ-x software. In the config setting for rig control, there is a drop down menu to choose your rig. there are many rigs listed, including the G90, X108G, X6100, but no X5105.? is any one using the WSJ-x with the X5105? Does the X5105 have any rig control capabilities or does it need to be done manually?? Not sure where to start but I'm going to try to connect again and see if I can play with drivers and get some signals recieved and decoded for starts. ? |
