Re: belt removal on W&W no.3
Don't worry about cutting the stitching. Usually when you put a new belt you cut it at least a half a inch short because the belt is going to stretch and you need that room.? So much of the #3 can be

Re: belt removal on W&W no.3
Paul, don¡¯t believe there¡¯s a way to get the head out of the cabinet without cutting the belt. Can you just cut the stitching at the joint of the belt?

belt removal on W&W no.3
So, I recently got a W&W no.3 (1872), and it has a brand new
leather belt on it. Which is awesome. But I'd like to pull
the machine head out, to do some cleaning. Is there a way
to remove the head

Re: No. 8 What is the correct bobbin case
Just an update, finally found a bobbin case for my 8. She sews beautifully. Now I can start disassembly, and getting her cleaned up. The cabinet just needs a little refresh. I really do like the sound

Re: Wheeler and Wilson No 9 or D9 ?
Forgot to mention age. The D9 was introduced in 1895 and was still being produced when Singer bought out the company, which I think was 1907. Yours are probably 19th century given the serial

Re: Wheeler and Wilson No 9 or D9 ?
Sounds like they are both D9s as 9s have a removable bobbin case. I¡¯m in the U.K. and bought MY1014b needles from college-sewing.co.uk for my D9. They have a flat side to the shank which most D9s

Re: No. 8 What is the correct bobbin case
Thanks Jorge,
I am really sure that is the bobbin case I need for my No. 8. But I've had no luck finding one.
I can find the case with positioning finger, and my No. 9 has the case with a

Re: going to look at one this week,
Although the price Tammy mentioned is low, in My experience, I would not buy the head separate from the table, unless I was searching specifically for a better example of a machine.

Prices of course vary depending where you live. But, $60 for just the head is high to me. I just a W&W No. 9 with pretty good decals, a beautiful treadle table, and a complete set of attachments for

My suggestion is that proceed with caution.
There¡¯s no need to feel that this is the ¡°only¡± W&W machine out there.
