Carb rebuild again?
Do you folks in Europe also suffer the ethanol blended fuels? the single best solution to Carburetor problems is to only use ethanol free fuel, Ethanol blended fuel will guaranty fuel system problems in just about any small gas engine, I recommend checking this website for availability in North America. AlohapaulUse only Kawasaki parts, mine are originals, never cleaned, bike has 116 000 kms and they work perfectly, just returned from the French meeting in Florac and around 900 kms and fuel consumption around 4,6 litre x 100 kms ¡. In Ontario gov¡¯t legislation requires ¡°up to¡±10% ethanol. My bike is used regularly so I cannot source some kind of special racing fuel or airport gas. I use premium grade with a touch of Stabil or other kind of storage additive at every fill up.

Winter storage requires a heavier dose of Stabil and the tank topped up with premium gas to allay rust in the fuel tank. Always drain the carbs, it is easy with a long 3mil hex wrench. I drain the tank in the spring and refill with new ¡°summer grade¡± premium and dump the Dubya gas in the lawn mower or car. Works so far. Never touched the carbs in the last 10 years and @ 82,000 km so far. Hi Paul. Looking at that Pure-gas.org site for Ontario, it has mainly Shell gas listed but unfortunately no Shell stations have non ethanol gas anymore. I believe that ended in early 2023. I don¡¯t know about unbranded stations. The ones listed in Ontario like Alderville and Curve lake are on Indian reservations so maybe? Gas sells for 40% less on there¡¯s and you can buy untaxed smokes and weed there too! But you need a status card.

From what I understand (from the old Yahoo group) the W's original equipment was designed to tolerate ethanol since it's been a thing in Asia and Europe longer than in North?America. Age is probably the bigger issue?? Not sure if Wired George is still around - he was the world's authority?on Kawasaki carburetors back in the day. His website looks to be active still. He's also a genuinely nice and generous guy who's happy to answer questions so I'd definitely consider reaching out to him. =S On Fri, Jun 28, 2024 at 6:49?AM Philippe P via <philippep2005=[email protected]> wrote: Use only Kawasaki parts, mine are originals, never cleaned, bike has 116 000 kms and they work perfectly, just returned from the French meeting in Florac and around 900 kms and fuel consumption around 4,6 litre x 100 kms ¡. |
