Re: Ignition barrel removal
If you live in the US you can get a complete security fastener tool kit at Harbor Freight for around $10.? It should have what you're looking for.? I've yet to run into a security fastener that couldn't be undone with the kit. On Fri, Dec 13, 2024 at 4:12?PM Mark Drury via <retrogrademechanica=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Speed wobble at 45mph-ish
Fork oil - recently changed fork oil 10w, brand with higher viscosity (google a fork oil table). ?Made a real difference…?
?
I had a wobble but at highway speeds. ?Tires (Michelin classics) didn’t like ?Rain grooves. ?I’ll try a different brand next time. ?In the meantime a steering damper helps … I think it’s an NHK from Japan (I may be wrong on the brand). ?Easy to install but fiddly. ?Works fine, dampens wobble and provides confidence at 70+mph. ?
Maybe a dampener? ?Maybe new tires? ?The only question I have concerns your wobble at lower speeds… higher speed wobble I understand not not at such low speeds. ?
my 2 cents

Bike is overloaded and or your fork oil has broken down.? ?Change the fork oil and put new springs in. On Fri, Dec 6, 2024, 10:47 AM chupaW650 via <chupa88=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: W650 oil consumption
The full mark is about 1/2 way up the sight window. I have about 85,000 km on my 2000 and it shows no appreciable consumption after about 3-4 thousand km per yearly oil change.? I know, that isn't a lot of mileage per season but that is all I seem to be doing now due to my old age. I like the bike to snooze thru the winter with new oil and filter, ready for next year. Re: Speed wobble at 45mph-ish
Front tire pumped to 29-30 psi? Front forks & axle aligned with the pumping method? Were the forks ever damaged in a crash? Checked steering head bearings? Steering is smooth and easy, not notchy, not loose, not slipping? On Fri, Dec 6, 2024 at 8:57?AM Rev via <keith.kkr=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Speed wobble at 45mph-ish
开云体育The W650 will wobble when the rear springs are not firm enough for the rider and any rear loads particularly if the rear tyre is soft. I experienced this and found that the rear springs had been
released to the softest setting after a service. Keith On 06/12/2024 15:48, chupaW650 via

Speed wobble at 45mph-ish
Hey folks,
?
I have a 2000 W650 and the bike has developed a speed wobble around 35-45mph in 3rd or 4th gear when I let go of the handlebars.? I don't usually ride without my hands off the bars but I discovered this a while ago when I loosen my grip.? I've since changed tires, rebalanced the front tire, loosened up all the bolts and axle on the front forks to reset the alignment but to no avail.? Curious to see if you guys can think of anything that may be causing this?
?
I've attached a video of the wobble slowing down from 50mph to around 45mph.? Thanks!

Re: Poor idle after slow drop on right side.
It’s all good. ?Sal Emma suggested Chevron Techron in the float bowls. ?I like that idea but put a whole bottle chevron Techron into a new tank of gas. ?For the last week or so, I’ve run W650 2 or so hours at a time, for nearly every day (got cold in the mornings lately and I’m a fair weather sailor).?
idle is solid, although warm up takes a bit longer … maybe. ?At any rate, I’ll be waiting to replace fuel system components until back-order is fulfilled. ?In the meantime I’ll keep riding! |

Re: W800
I have extensively ridden both the 650s and 800s. They make about the same amount of horsepower, but the 800s definitely make more torque. You can feel it off the line.?? The 800s also feel a little heavier.? On Wed, Dec 4, 2024 at 8:59?AM Sam via <sam.malkinson=[email protected]> wrote:
