Re: Replacement turn signal options

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I too have some cracked turn signals and when I last looked the OEM units were pretty expensive. Let me know what you find out.

Re: Replacement turn signal options

Very Old Thread, yes.? I research a lot sometimes ?? :)???

I want to keep the OEM Style.?? I? sent a message to Martin at w650shop.de? for a price quote / shipping on the OEM Replacement Turn signals.? Mine have deteriorated to the point they don't hold their own weight anymore.? I haven't found a set of replacment plastic stems that replicate the OEM ones.? So I am going to see what his cost with shipping to the US.

Re: Alternate Battery and Light Options

Edited

I have a YTX14BS in mine right now which is dead from lack of use and my not keeping it on a maintainer.? But I also remember it was almost impossible to install and fit in.? The K Service manual calls for:?
12 v 12 AH (200 CCA) ? for the C3 - C5
12v 10 AH (180) CCA? for the C5. C6P, C7 and C6F

The 20 CCA difference doesn't bother me much at all.? I don't live in or ride in a super cold climate and I keep the bike inside. I also not have any additional electric current draws on it.

A YUASA? YTX14BS? is? 150 mm x 87 mm x 145 mm?? or 6" x 3-7/16 x 5-3/4"
A YUASA? YTX12BS is? 150 mm x 87 mm x 130 mm? or? 6" x 3-7/16" x 5-1/8"

If the difference in the 2 battery dimensions is in the height,? I am going to try a YTX12BS this time in the AGM and see how it goes.? I know how long the 14 BS lasted for me,

I am more interested in the fit and being able to get the battery out, which on my bike the 14BS is almost welded in there it is so tight.

Welcome aboard, Keith!

Just remove the arm and adjust on the spline. I needed to move mine one notch. Check to make sure it¡¯s within recommended specs that you can find in the service/owner¡¯s manual. You do want to hand your brakes function as intended.

Hi all, new owner of a 1999 w650 after many years of large touring and sports machines. Age and wisdom have got the better of me and I'm happy having a blast around the rural roads in Wiltshire UK on my newly acquired machine - really pleased with it and am now beginning to tinker.....

Probably an easy answer but I can't see a way to change the gear change pedal height? My past bikes have all had a rod with a right / left hand threaded end which just moved the lever but I can't see it on this one. Any clues appreciated...!

Cheers.

Re: Front fork bushings NLA?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I renewed the fork innards last March and had the same problem. In fact one side had no nylon sleeve!? So - I cut one from a detergent bottle that had the same (very close) thickness. No problem. The sleeve really only helps to slide in the fork tube into the headstock? and avoid any scratching the tube when refitting as well as providing some protection to the tube at the in the headstock joint. Probably why it is no longer available or needed.

But that's not really an issue now, because the dealer also told me that this is no longer available. I find it hard to believe that these bushings fit only this model of bike, so does anybody know where this white nylon bushing can be sourced in the aftermarket?

Also, one of the large Teflon coated bronze bushings is worn down to the bronze, and the small and large Teflon coated bushings are still available, although my dealer says priced at almost unobtainium prices, at about $35 a piece. Does anybody know if these aftermarket bushings are available?

Re: Front fork bushings NLA?

Here's what I do, FWIW.

1) Get the part no. from the fiche at Ron Ayers?

or

2) Copy and google that part number, along with the word 'Kawasaki.'

3) Try the number with and without the hyphen, i.e., search both 'kawasaki 92028-1940' and 'kawasaki?920281940'

If it exists, it might turn up. Ebay, Japan/Europe sellers, etc.

Good luck.

If by, ¡°Pacifica¡±, you mean Pacific Coast; they are incredibly reliable as long as they¡¯ve been maintained well. Search out some PC800 forums and you¡¯ll find a wealth of knowledge to help you determine if it¡¯s the right bike for you.

Replacement kill switch part number

Need to order a new kill switch but I've got a 2001 USA model W650 with short cables ordered from japan.
Seems there are multiple versions. Is 1766 just a replacement for 1773? Odd to go down in number.

High bar: 46091-1778
Low bar:?
46091-1773 (2001 part Discontinued)
?
Low bar: 46091-1766 (replacement for 1733?)

Also looking for an OEM low bar if anyone has one they'd not mind parting with.
thanks!

?Originally on the bike it had a catch that was released by key. The key barrel was located on the left side where the subframe meets before the rear shock mounts by the top rear corner of the side covers. This pulled a cable which released the spring loaded clasp which is fitted to the cross brace which you¡¯d find under the seat just behind where the riders tailbone would be (hope that makes sense). If you don¡¯t have these parts you should be able to get them from Kawasaki.
