Re: WXData Uploaded

Hi ,

Many tnx for the very prompt reply, sounds good.

Where can I get the new version? I note the copy in the "extras" folder is
still MPH only.
I've uploaded it again. For some reason it didn't get updated.
You'll now see both MPH and KmPH.

It can be found from the ACCESS bit of UI-PATH and clicking on a station.

I think the last bit in square brackets says it all really :-) or :-(
depending upon your point of view <Grin>

May I suggest adding it to the 'Extras' file in the File area of Onelist
please?

(For those unsure of how to get to the Files area, go to the onelist
UI-View
area and click on 'Files' on the left hand side of the screen. HTH)

Hello Allan,
Any chance of being able to enter windspeed in kmph?
Yes I've just added a couple more boxes so you can enter
the speeds in either KMPH or MPH and the values will be
converted between them .EG enter in KM/H and the box
for MPH will have the converted figure added and MPH
converted to KM/H.

Hi All

Not normally one to send attachments but attached is screenshot showing the
latest feature of UI-Path 1.6 dev to display a radiation pattern of stations
from your home location or anybody elses you have network information for.

It can be found from the ACCESS bit of UI-PATH and clicking on a station.

Pleased to see that Bob has got it working. Just a few comments:-

Go to the tab IP Address and click on Specify an IP address
in the section IP Address type 192 168 0 1
You should also add a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. (Or does Windows put
it in for you?)

now go to the windows directory and look for a file called HOSTS.SAM (if you
have amipro on your machine it will have the amipro icon) control and right
click and select OPEN WITH if that happens and use the NOTEPAD icon
ok now you need to add in the address's of all the machines you want uiview to
access mine looks like this

192.168.0.1 pent133
192.168.0.2 dawns
192.168.0.3 laptop
save the file once compleated
HOSTS.SAM is a SAMple HOSTS file and is ignored by Windows, the file
should be saved as HOSTS - no extension.

Also, an additional entry of -
127.0.0.1 localhost

is always a good idea - it allows you to connect to servers on your own
PC.

click on the uiview-ini file (not the one with the globe icon)
come down to the section [APRSERVE]
type in the name of your machine ie PENT133 and the ip address like this
PENT133=192.168.0.1
That isn't needed. Try taking it out, it shouldn't make any difference.

come down a few lines to HOST and change to
HOST=PENT133 (OR WHAT EVER YOUR MACHINE NAME IS)
and PORT to PORT=14480
That can de done from the "APRS Server Setup" dialogue. Those are the
two INI file entries that are updated when you select the server in the
dialogue.

next come down to [APRS_Servers]
and add the line PENT133=14480
That is the only editing of UIVIEW.INI needed.

I would recommend leaving the port at 1448, rather than changing it to
14480. The idea is that all UI-View servers should use 1448 unless there
is a good reason not to do so - no reason other than to make it easier
to connect to someone else's server.

One other point - In the "APRS Server Setup" dialogue, if you're
connecting to a UI-View server, you don't need to check "APRServe log on
required."

Wow!

UI-View

Hi all,

I have just fired up UI-View for the first time, and what a system!

Having tried to play with APRS in the past, it was literally 5-minutes to
get up and running listening on 144.800. 10 minutes later I had a map out of
AutoRoute and street level details on the stations I was hearing.

Well done Roger for a very usable product.

No, because "Ok" accepts all the changes you have made while the
dialogue is open. For example, you might add stations to the list or
delete some, and then change your mind and decide to exit the dialogue
with Cancel.

Also, the blue text in the dialogue says "Add stations to the excluded
list by entering them into the text box and pressing <return>."

lan feature

Bob

Hello to the NG
i have finaly got this ui-view to work over my LAN
right then a blow by blow account on what i did (missing out the past few days of non-productivity)

first of all i run ui-view on 2 machine's a p133 which is used for my inet connection and the other is a p300 which is used for my ham radio stuff which has ui-view and bpq 408a running on it
i did not want to run AGW as i want to stick with BPQ and from the messages i got back on this subject they were saying that i need to run agw !!!!
well i dont need to run agw to get this to work

right lets kick off

go to your network neighborhood icon and right click
go to properties and left click
if you dont have TCP/IP (NAME OF YOUR NETWORK CARD)
click on ADD scroll to PROTOCOL and click ADD scroll to MICROSOFT and select TCP/IP
have your windows disk handy at this point it may be needed

your machine my ask to be rebooted DO IT!!!

ok so your back on line again
go to network neighborhood icon and right click
properties and left click
scroll down to TCP/IP (NAME OF YOUR NETWORK CARD) and highlight it
click on PROPERTIES
Go to the tab IP Address and click on Specify an IP address
in the section IP Address type 192 168 0 1
and then click on OK then click on OK again
your machine may well be asking for a the windows disk again
and then a reboot no doubt

ok so now you have givin your machine an ip address

now go to the windows directory and look for a file called HOSTS.SAM (if you have amipro on your machine it will have the amipro icon) control and right click and select OPEN WITH if that happens and use the NOTEPAD icon
ok now you need to add in the address's of all the machines you want uiview to access mine looks like this

192.168.0.1 pent133
192.168.0.2 dawns
192.168.0.3 laptop
save the file once compleated

ok so far so good
right now we need to go to the ui-view directory
click on the uiview-ini file (not the one with the globe icon)
come down to the section [APRSERVE]
type in the name of your machine ie PENT133 and the ip address like this
PENT133=192.168.0.1
come down a few lines to HOST and change to
HOST=PENT133 (OR WHAT EVER YOUR MACHINE NAME IS)
and PORT to PORT=14480
next come down to [APRS_Servers]
and add the line PENT133=14480

repeat this for your other machine but of course dont use the same ip address's for all of them oh yes and ake sure that you have the ENABLE LOCAL SERVER checked in the aprs server setup box on the machine your connecting to.
save this file and then run uiview.
and the rest you should know

some of you in the group may be able to pick up on any errors that i have made if so please feel free to air your views i am by no means an expert were networking is concerned (i only started with it a few months ago) and will allways listen to advice.

thanks to those who replied with advice and to roger for giving me the info in the postings on the thread

simple really when you know how i suppose.

Hi All

Very new to ui-view but very impressed so far. I do have a small problem
that someone might have been seen before...

On my own system, using a PK232 or a Tiny-2 the application works well
in KISS mode. My father uses a very old 'BSX board with TNC200 firmware.
It _sort_ of works but the RX data is decoded only when in host mode. If
I enter KISS mode his TX data can be seen at my station but his station
will not RX data from anyone else.

In short it will either TX or RX but not both.

All RF and AF levels are OK.

I get a similar problem with Neil G8UEK who is using a Tiny-2 Mk1 who
cannot use KISS mode..
I can't really answer most of this, because there isn't sufficient
information - Is the BSX an original BSX(1) or a BSX2? What is the
version of the TNC200 firmware? Etc... However, KISS mode works fine
with a Tiny-2 Mk1 (or Mk2) because I've used it. The only likely reason
for it not to work is because KISS is configured incorrectly - for a
Tiny-2 you need to select KISS Setup and click the TNC2 "Easy Setup"
button.

There hasn't been any change at all for several versions to the way the
excluded list is handled.

Blow by blow - Tell me at what point yours doesn't work:-

1. Select "Excluded List"
2. In the text box at the bottom left, input a callsign and press
return. It appears in the list.
3. Repeat '2' for further callsigns.
4. Click 'Ok'.
5. Either from a DOS window or from Explorer, have a look in the UI-VIEW
directory for a file called EXCLUDE.LST. Examine the contents - it
should be the stations you input.
6. Select "Excluded List" again, and the stations should still be there.
7. Close UI-View and restart it.
8. Select "Excluded List" again, and the stations should still be there.

Hi All,

I've uploaded a simple little program to the Extras directory
of one-list.
It's called WXData and is a Windows program that you can
manually enter WX data and it will generate a file called
WX.Dat which UI-View can read to allow you to run a WX
station.
You might want to create and .XTR to make UI-View start
the program at start up. An example would be :-

WXData
WXDATA.EXE
True
True

This assumes the program is located in the Ui-View directory.
if it isn't change line 2 to point to where you have located the program.

Have fun

Hmmh.. further to my last, I think the phrase is RTFM :-)

Type the callsign of the station that you want to exclude then press
RETURN not click OK.

Then it works fine.

Problem solved.
