Ask on your Twitter feed if anyone has an invite code?

Think I'll be starting an account there. Reckon 'X'/Twitter will only get worse, frankly.

Hi,

There's a new locus of interaction building on blue sky, Rich and Sid are there, as are a fair number of lardies, although Nick has resisted so far. Twitter is still going, but blue sky is the lifeboat of choice at the moment I think. You need an invite code to get on, which are given to members every week or two (they are one time codes). As it happens I've just got one, I can email it to you direct if you want.

Cheers,
Jim

Thanks

LardEhs IV Game Day in Hamilton, Ontario Oct. 28

开云体育

Hello everyone,

We'll be having our fourth TFL Games Day in southern Ontario on October 28th, from 9:30am to 7pm, in Hamilton, at the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Veterans Hall on Barton Street.? Details as we have them are up at?http://twothreesixmm.blogspot.com/2023/04/lardehs-iv-october-28-2023.html

Coming out of the pandemic we've been able to have three successful game days in the last couple of years, with 4-5 games per time slot, covering pretty much all of the TFL and Reisswitz Press library.

We'd love to have more gamers out, feel free to follow along as the schedule develops on the blog, or we have an event page on Facebook under our more formal name of True North LardEhs, and we hang out on the Frozen Lard Facebook group too.

Thanks,
Chris

IABSM: Effect of being pinned

Question: Effects of being pinned.
In section 4.3.1 it says a Pinned unit's "fire is calculated as being one range band worse" These ranges are Close, Effective and Long............
however in The Fire Table on the backpage it says in lower right corner... "fire with one column shift to the right."... with columns related to type of cover
Which is correct? thx, Dan

Re: Now that Twitter is members-only...

I still check in here on a regular basis. I am in addition a member of the TFL forum.

These days I can also access the TFL Face Palm pages and Twitter.

However, I do appreciate the problems. Before I retired, work links and security protocols restricted what wargames ‘web’ alternatives I could contact as I used my ‘home’ computer to log in for work.

A number of these ‘access options’ are not that secure and lack any reasonable means to search back over time. There must be a better alternative!

Allan.

Now that Twitter is members-only...

...and the TFL Facebook Group is comments-only, can people start posting here so I/we know what's going on?

(Of course this assumes there are people still on this forum except me and a few others.)

Thanks

Re: Typical table size(s) for IABSM 3?

I agree. CoC has a ground scale of 1:120 (40 yards to the foot), or near enough exactly 15mm. IABSM is double that at 1:240, or about 7.5mm, which is pretty close to 6mm (especially given most 6mm figures are on the tall side!).

You may be confusing IABSM with ChoC.?
The ground scale for IABSM is about equivalent to 6mm figures. One foot equals 80 yards or 1:240.

Kind regards

It also depends a lot on the scale of the minis you use. 28mm minis need a lot more space than 15mm, and some folks even use 6mm... As far as I remember, the assumed base scale is 15mm.

I have had this discussion before with the TFL folks as yes, some of the scenario books don't mention a size.
-If you see a grid, then assume these are 12-inch by 12-inch.
-with no grid, I like to use a ruler to get a sense of the relative length of the "long-side" and the "short-side"
For example, if you measure on the paper printout from the scenario, that one side is 4 inches long and the other side is 6 inches long, then presto!? there is your 4 foot by 6 foot table.

I would not sweat it too much. The maps are very impressionistic so do what works for you with the gaming tables/plywood/foam pieces you have.

I've attached some Algy stats that were on the old Yahoo forum. I don't know what the formula was for figuring?out plane stats. Hopefully some of the planes you are wanting stats for are on the list. The guy who put the list together is no longer an active?member.?

ACW Kriegsspiel

Have the kriegsspiel rules—1824, which is packaged with the 1828 revision,?and just bought the 1862 rules. Which is better for American Civil War? Rifles but not yet needle guns in that conflict. 1862 is, therefore, out as written, but could they be modified? If so, how? 1824/1828 rules are both for smoothbore, right? Better to modify these rules ‘forward’ in time? How?
