Question regarding 465B "free running"

If I turn both channels off, I get a "free running" trace. This trace is not vertically centered. Is it supposed to be centered? If so, is there an adjustment for that and where is it?

Thanks,
Barry - N4BUQ

I tried your setup on a 465B, and the AUTO trace was within one small division of being centered.
I can't see why it would matter to me where it was on the screen, other than to please my symmetric mind.
A look at the service manual may show you if an adjustment is available for this issue.
Nice scope that 465B!

I did a cursory look through the manual for this but didn't see anything. Quite a lot of info there so may have missed it (if it's even there).

I just wasn't sure if an off-centered auto trace might be indicative of other possible problems.

Thanks,

The behavior of your scope directly depends on the accuracy of your low voltages and their ripple levels, so have a good look at your low voltages before you come to any conclusions.
Give the Tekscopes group a day or two, maybe someone will know something about?your question.
There is a?lot of good knowledge on these Tekscopes groups.

I would not be surprised if there is excess ripple as I'm pretty sure all the caps are original.

Thanks!
