2221a Service Manual

KQ8M

Is it just me or is the service manual for a 2221a scope next to impossible to find? I have been searching google all evening and have only found the 2221 service manuals for the 60 MHz scope and not the 2221a 100 MHz scope.

I am not quite sure of this since I do not have a 2221a manual either
but besides the bandwidth and lack of delayed sweep, I suspect the
2221 is based on the 2230 design which uses a channel switch to do
analog multiplexing in CHOP and ALT modes before the 20 MS/sec ADC
while the 2221a is based on the 2232 design which uses two separate
100 MS/sec ADCs followed by digital multiplexing in CHOP and ALT
modes.

While I really get a lot of use out of my 2230, the analog
multiplexing makes DSO CHOP mode a little weird.

Well, I have a couple of dead ones here and I would like to fix them if possible. Even just a schematic with values called out would help.

I think the 2232 manual will be the closest match to the 2221a. The
only major difference should be the delayed sweep.

I have a 2221A + 2230(s) & 2232(s).
I think that the are very few, if any differences, within the power supply
sections of these scopes.
There is a lot of very good material available in the archives about
servicing the PS in these and the 2213(A) 2215(A).
If they are dead, it's probably the second place to look anyway.
The first place is the voltage test points.
A short delay after pushing in the power button is normal on all of the above scopes.

That's the Operators Manual, not the Service Manual. The Operators Manual
can be had for free, just Google it.

There should not be much difference in the power supply because those
all use the same main board which includes the power supply and analog
signal paths from the inputs to the CRT. Some of the non-DSO 22xx
series like the 2225A and I would guess the 2213A and 2215A also use
the same main board.

It says just the operator manual and for $42 which seems expensive to
me.

Yes, operators manual and yes, way too expensive for something that one can find pretty much anywhere.
