Re: P6201 and 492P
Thank you Jean-Paul and JOE. Can you tell me how to set the active probe P6201? In any case I think it is essential to use a DC-block because the 492 does not accept any DC voltage at RF input.. Happy

Re: 7704A - Noise on sine-wave traces
Yes - I was thinking it was digital noise coming from the readout character generation circuits. I tried the switch in the GATED position and that does indeed eliminate [almost] all of the gaps in the

Parting out or selling a 535A
I recently rescued a 535A from the scrap heap and/or (audio) tube thieves. I needed t as a parts donor for my 575 and have no intention of restoring the 535A, myself. It served as a mouse hotel (from

Re: 7704A - Noise on sine-wave traces
There's likely no relationship between the chopping frequency and the sweep speed.? I'd go for random. You're thinking that this behaves like digital, perhaps? Harvey

Re: 7704A - Noise on sine-wave traces
Hi Harvey, I'll see if that resolves the issue. The way that the blanks move along the trace, it seemed a more random effect than I'd expect when writing to the same locations each time but maybe not.

Re: 7704A - Noise on sine-wave traces
Do not do anything. There is one beam.? It has to be "borrowed" to write the readouts. There are two ways: 1) Borrow the beam when it's needed.? This chops tiny holes in the trace.? it's going to

Re: 7704A - Noise on sine-wave traces
Correction: The READOUT switch connects to the -15V rail through R5006, not the +15V rail. Thanks, Barry - N4BUQ

Re: tek 2430a vs tek 2430
Hi, Yes, they are different. The 2430A is more in line with the 2432 and 2440. The 2430 (not A) even has a different front panel. Check right below the horizontal speed knob, the A version has more

7704A - Noise on sine-wave traces
When displaying a sine-wave where several cycles/division are present, when the READOUT is switched on, there is noticeable "noise" (for lack of a better definition) in the trace. It appears as tiny

Re: RG501 Ramp Generator running at double speed?
Well, count me surprised.. After pulling out R50, R51, R52 and C50 to test them (all well within spec) and reinstalling them, I am now getting the expected 8.8V at pin 6 of U50, and my output is now

Re: P6201 and 492P
I have used a P6201 in swept frequently situations before. The P6201 has separate signal paths for DC/low frequencies and high frequencies. If not perfectly calibrated you can see different gains in

Re: lithium thionyl chloride battery sub
No, not really. The Li-SOCl2 primary cell is good for ten years plus. A Li-Ion rechargeable will hold charge for a few months only. A CR2032 not really suitable - maybe good for a year or so, but 3V

Hi all i have this scope with a dead battery for the cal values etc,its 3.6v normaly, could it be replaced with either a 18650 cell or a cr2032 cell,ie 3.7/4.2v or 3v for the cr2032?
