Re: Probe bags ...
I have bought one or two off eBay. Don't forget that there are two sizes for the 4xx scopes - the short one fits the 468 and scopes with the DMM "penthouse". You also need to have a case with both of the fastening features - sometimes the front fixing is missing.

salt, or two... The only issue I have with Leo's product is that according to his pictures, it doesn't have a very good flat top and bottom to the pulse. The fast rise time is good for measuring the bandwidth of the scope (which may be all he intended to do), but if you are wanting to use his pulser to adjust the transient response of a scope, you need a clean flat top on your test pulse. Although it is difficult to know where your "spare" screw came from please make sure that the rear right hand side case screw ?is present, it is part of the power supply heat sink path and is frequently missing. 73 George G6HIG On Saturday, December 8, 2018 12:57 PM, David Slipper <softfoot@...> wrote:

Where in the world are you, it would be helpful if such requests included such information as shipping cost are a major factor in the viability of supplying spares. 73 George G6HIG On Saturday, December 8, 2018 1:37 PM, lop pol via Groups.Io <the_infinite_penguin@...> wrote:

2235 display problem
I have a Tek 2235 o scope with a 1 1/2¡± vertical solid and fixed y-axis amplitude display that appears on both channels. Changing gain has no effect on the display, neither does changing the focus. Sweep timing is good. CRT display is bright. Using a 500 mV 1kHz square wave at the input does not have any effect on the screen display problem. Referencing the Tek service manual, I cannot find anything on the board amiss using another external oscilloscope to checkwaveforms. What is interesting is that the output signals leading to the upper and lower vertical control plates of the CRT appear clean and undistorted showing the 1kHz square wave, so the the problem must be in the CRT, or the associated circuitry. Has anyone seen this problem or know someone who does? I don¡¯t know how to upload a photo quite yet, but I will figure it out soon.

Tektronix 2465 300MHZ - display too 'tall'
Hi, I recently acquired a Tek2465, it seems to work ok, just one thing is that the vertical height is off the top of the screen (the text is half cut off). I can't seem to find a way to narrow it down on on the front panel dials. Is there something that can be adjusted to fix this, or is this similar to arcade CRTs that just need a fresh capacitor kit installed after 30+ years?
And follow up question, where can I source a cap-kits for this model? Thanks! |
Smashed CRT on a 2215 - where to find a substitue?
Hi!
Just bought a 2215 scope, but unfortunately it was destroyed by the transportation company. The CRT tube was smashed. Is it possible to find a spare anywhere in the world? And is it a wise thing to do, regarding the relatively low price on those scopes? |

Re: Russian Tunnel Diodes
FWIW there's a very nice 40 pS rise time 10 MHz square wave pulser at leobodnar.com. The BNC version is about $80 US. Leo has just developed a variant that produces 100 pS spikes.
Not germane to making a repair, but if the goal is having a fast step generator it's hard to beat. Each one is individually tested and a printout of the step response provided. Mine actually has a 36 pS rise time. Leo also has them with 3.5 and 2.92 mm connectors spec'd at 30 pS. I covered mine with a large piece of heat shrink for protection. |

There are photos in the group archives. Description somehow messed up duringI understand entirely the interest in building TD pulsers, and replicating/repairing Tek ones. But a bit of heresy - the Leo Bodnar pulsers produce 30ps rise, and around 24ps fall time. They come with a calibration certificate too. For UKP49 to UKP99 depending on the output connector. Run from USB power, from which you can adjust the amplitude from the app. They run at 10MHz with 2.5ppm accuracy, so can be used for timebase checks too. I have the BNC version, which is the cheapest. Craig |
