Re: "I wonder how many members here have a 564" Dave V.
I have 3 standard 564B and 3 standard 561A. I also have 2 568 readout oscilloscopes that I haven't had time to work with yet. I've also collected 60 plug-ins of the 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3S, and 3T

Hi Michael,
As much as I love Steven Wright's sense of humor and your contributions to TekScopes we really need to stop the irrelevant chatter. Unfortunately I inadvertently contributed to it this

Well, you can't have everything! Where would you keep it, if you could? ;-)

Re: "I wonder how many members here have a 564" Dave V.
I'm from Italy.
I have two 564, perfectly working. I use them enough - I like their analog storage capabilities.
Plugins are 3B3, 3B4, 3A1,3A3, 3A6, 3A72, 3S1, two 3T77, 3T77A.

Re: 475 Manual with Voltages/Waveforms?
One thing you seem to be missing is the fact that there is a low serial number service manual, and a separate high serial number manual for the non-A models of the Tektronix 475 oscilloscope.
Perhaps

Re: Tek 465 "B" Sweep
Yes, tin/lead ratio would need to be 63/37 percents (Sn63), which is called the eutectic (Greek for "melts well") ratio.? Sn60, which is 60 percent tin and 40 percent lead, gets a bit plasticity as

Yes.... The one in

As an particular question ( I suddenly feel somewhat envious of Tim) I wonder if there's a forum contributor in Australia with 564...?

Re: Tek 465 "B" Sweep
I'm fresh out of boiling oil.
Ah, Never did that kind of tin lead plating. I did double sided, non
plated through holes, epoxying top and bottom together, then stitched
them with #26 wire for vias.

Re: Tek 585A - Scope repair UPDATE
Albert: Measured the 20V supply ... 19.5V at pin 9 of K600. Voltage across R600 is 14V. That leaves 5.5V for the thermal relay with is close enough for the design spec 6V. Based on my crude out of

Re: Tek 465 "B" Sweep
Tin/lead plating was the most common way back in the
80's. Everything I said below, for gold, was the same, only
there was a step where the plated board was dipped in hot
peanut oil to convert the

Re: Tek 465 "B" Sweep
You can also (as I'm told) do this with tin/lead plating. You need to
use ammonium persulphate since that doesn't attack lead or tin. Ferric
Chloride or CuCl, nope.

Re: Tek 465 "B" Sweep
Tek and HP used the gold plating *as* the solder mask for
copper etching.
Their process was (approximately):
1) drill plated through holes
2) plate through holes.
3) silkscreen a mask on board that
